Sites 2 & 3, Omni CC Hotel + Tower

I found this well-written article by some guy who apparently is a local… Never heard of him, but lots of good info.

lol I’m talking about like an actual date of groundbreaking.

LOL. Understood! preliminary site prep work has already begun but I am not aware of an announced date when the shovels begin turning.

It was weeks before the Creamery project had their groundbreaking and it was very short notice. I think there’ll be a bit of site prep work before an official groundbreaking ceremony.

Is anyone going to mention anything about the trees coming down today at the Omni site? Nothing new gets shared on this forum anymore, it’s just the same projects over and over: highline, city hall, and education campus. You can tell how few people here really live downtown, or you’d be updating the forum with all the activity. I couldn’t stand it anymore and had to post something after biting my tongue at least 100 times by now.

Someone please go share about everything else thats happening in this area of downtown that gets no coverage: Lichtin Plaza (shaping up nicely), Towneplace Suites (someone implied it was stalled when it wasn’t, someone else said maybe it’s a better parking lot, it’s not), RHA progress (all fencing bumped out, south St gone, going vertical soon), etc.

My Brother in Christ; you just did exactly that.

My Brother in Christ; you are literally admitting to being part of the problem you, yourself, are complaining about. LOL

Well, you could post about these things yourself.

…which he actually did do while simultaneously complaining that nobody is doing it :face_with_spiral_eyes:

I read that as satire. Was he, in fact, being serious???

Surely it was satire, right!?!?

Maybe I missed something. Did we talk about the trees at the Omni site? I mean, that would be on topic for this thread/acceptable.

Port -a- @John is in place. It must be official now.

Also I still see trees. Why are they still here? I heard from a reliable source that they were gone.

I stopped contributing because you all made it too uncomfortable. I shared feedback last summer that wasn’t taken seriously. This isn’t a safe space. So against my better judgement I finally posted again and you see the response. Y’all are just mean. You may not like my tone, but I’m not mean.

I called out GLP directly via DM when he used hate speech to describe a certain section of town. Rather than apologize or take responsibility or even engage, he just blocked me. The guy’s intentions aren’t good and he adds no value, but this forum continues to prop him up. I don’t get it.

There are a few trees left, probably coming down today. Just go see these things for yourself like I do.

ok - I see where you were upset that the entire forum wasn’t “unified” in support of a downtown MLB stadium vs the current Blue Ridge “Stadium district” … I’d just say that maybe you’re taking everything- and everyone- a little too seriously? Most of the “mean” comments I read as pretty blatant sarcasm, in a mostly playful tone. At least speaking for myself, that’s always my tone when commenting here - playful, silly, sometimes a LITTLE hyperbolic, but all-in-all with a general love and appreciation for our city and those of us (i.e. everyone in this forum) who care about it and its continued growth and success. We live here, after all.

As for you; I see that you were going Whole Hog in support of a gondola from downtown to Dix, which I share with you! And you did the math and figured out the updated height of the future Omni Hotel (you estimated 364’ which was surprising and welcome news). So you’re cool by my standards. Just maybe don’t take everyone in here as seriously, allow some room for differing opinions or level-of-care (when it comes to a potential MLB stadium, that is), and PLEASE do continue sharing updates and news when you have it, like you suggested we all do yesterday. It’s a group effort, and your efforts were and surely would still be appreciated!

You are welcome to use the mute and ignore features of this forum if people aren’t to your liking. Some folks are an acquired taste, I have to admit. Here’s a nice overview from another Discourse community. Let me know how I can help.

Else, you can share as much or as little as you want. Reach out to me if you want to hear more.

i’m sorry people dogged on you. That must have felt alienating. I value your input. Please keep contributing if you feel inspired to do so.

I can’t wait until they “plant” the building so we can watch it grow.
