Smoky Hollow Phases 1, 2, and 3

Very interesting how abstract it is after all this wait. I’m cool with that…

Damn! I took a pic earlier and forgot to post. Since Leo says he’s paying $.00001 per pic, I’ll go ahead and post mine too. :money_mouth_face:

(That’s a reminder for those interested in donating to the site to donate to the site!)

I need to go back and look at it again, but I bet the full picture was already painted here. They were just testing it first to see if they liked how it looked.

Thanks for the reminder, Dylan. Just donated. Thanks again, Leo for all you do for us. This Raleigh native really appreciates it!

Not saying it was “obnoxious” or anywhere close to that point yet, it’s just what humans tend to do. Things are “cool/original” until they’re not, and by that point they can be wildly overdone - what was once unique becomes ubiquitous and therefore unnoticed (or annoying).

Everyone on this forum complains about “glass covered buildings” and “cookie cutter houses”, etc because they think they’re un-original. I just think if all flat building walls and parking decks become Fauvism or Pop Art then at some point we’ll appreciate Brutalist or Bauhaus architecture styles as well.

I want creativity, variety and diversity - not for murals to be banned… i.e. occasionally something more than just paint:

**I would be curious what mural they’d put on the jail!!

Looking forward to this space being activated regularly.
Also, if you look closely the mural is starting to peek around the corner. We can actually start to see some of it from our unit at The Line.

I think you just like views of parking decks. Sorry they’re making this one pretty and it’s too far away. You should move to the condos across from Raleigh Crossing. They’re gonna have a perfect close-up view of that nice big parking deck below the skinny tower.

A unique view of the Hollow.

Is that the downtown Raleigh river?

I’d like for some structures with greenery/plants . Not really common here. Even if it was common, you can’t really argue it’s “overdone”. It’s nature.

The parking garage at Glenwood Place next to Iron Oaks is covered in greenery. Not sure what it’s called.

Does anyone else have other examples of structures with plants/greenery in the area?

I’m really looking forward to this greenery taking over the deck.

Sweet. Where does one find out about live music here? I clicked the social media links on the Smoky Hollow website and they’re all broken (twitter isn’t but it’s last post is a few months old).

It’s been through the Lincoln so far…it seems.

Wish they’d get their act together / up their game at the original venue. Been getting scooped by local and regional competition for the types of shows they used to get

My boys! Super proud of Duck. They essentially only used to play high Park bar and grill, and now they’re getting big cool gigs.

Daniel donato is like psychedelic country. Hippy cowboy

I made this Local Meme™️ recently. Lincoln Theatre’s booking absolutely sucks, and it’s such a damn shame. Beautiful, historic venue with a great floor layout- not a bad “seat” in the house; classic looking stage, incredible sound…… and dogshit booking. D-list country/Dad-rock and cover bands. I don’t care if they book those acts because it “pays the bills” - if they had someone without their head up their ass booking actually good shows that people truly want to see, they’d have lines around the block every other night and be making as much if not more revenue. And every once in a while, they DO book a really cool show like that (or more realistically, CAT’S CRADLE books a really cool show AT Lincoln) and it’s very special. But more often than not, it’s the most boring, worthless show calendar in the Triangle. Huge shame.
