Same here. I told her I’d consider re-electing her if she voted in favor of rezonings and density downtown, otherwise I’d work to elect someone who will
Good for you. I sent her an email supporting the MLS stadium and got some BS generic response. I immediately donated money to David knight who is running against her.
It would be nice to know that while in her position she serves the public interest, or is at least interested in the opinion of the public, rather than using her position to serve her own interests.
I didn’t get a response. Made a contribution to Mr. Knight as well. I like what I’ve read about him.
I plan to go to the meeting. Anyone else planning to go? This zoning case is among several that will be heard, along with an annexation and some petitions, about twelve in all. It starts at 7:00 pm and there’s no set order. It is a public hearing.
I plan to go. I’ll be wearing my fancy socks.
@OakCityDylan and myself plan to attend. We have thought about meeting @dtraleigh and others from the forum once we know the time slot better.
I’m planning on going as well
I just checked and the agenda still hasn’t been posted. Let me just say, this is another barrier to public engagement, last minute agenda postings.
I agree. Agendas are posted the Friday preceding the scheduled meeting.
On the July 2nd agenda:
Motion
(Approving zoning amendment)
“I move to adopt the proposed Consistency Statement dated July 2,
2019 contained in the agenda materials and to approve the zoning
amendment.”
Comprehensive Plan Consistency Statement
July 2, 2019
Zoning case no. Z-3-19 Harrington and Peace
Address: 517 Capital Boulevard, 401 W Peace Street, 407 W Peace St, 312 W
Johnson Street, and 506 N Harrington Street
Applicant: Chaucer Investments LLC
After considering the policies, maps, and other materials included as a part of the
comprehensive plan, the Council determines that the proposed zoning amendment
is CONSISTENT with the comprehensive plan and other adopted plans and should
be APPROVED.
The action taken is reasonable and in the public interest because:
• Increased land use intensity in an urban area where Bus Rapid Transit (BRT)
is planned will make the most of the regional investment in transit service.
• Siting of a high intensity land use adjacent to a future city park will
maximize the city’s investment in recreational infrastructure.

CONCLUSION
The subject site is bound by Capital Boulevard, Peace Street, Johnson Street, and
Harrington Street in a location where the 2030 Comprehensive Plan calls for high-intensity
urban mixed-use with guidance from the Future Land Use Map and Urban Form Map. The
subject site is located between the two outstanding alternatives for the northern BRT
corridor: West Street and Capital Boulevard. The pairing of high-intensity land use and highfrequency transit is supported by the 2030 Comprehensive Plan vision theme of Coordinating
Land Use and Transportation which encourages land use decisions that support
transportation investments. The request also brings the opportunity for high-density housing
to the city’s Downtown which supports Downtown-specific policy guidance of supporting
retail growth and establishing the Downtown as a regional center.
So far from what I read there’s a good chance this will be approved. It’s still up to the city council.

Thank you!

Any suggestions? Also, I have tried on different platforms as well…?
Updated the link to an attachment.
Perfect, my thanks!

Looks like the public hearing for this rezoning is during the evening portion, after the citizen petitions. It’s the first one on the list.

We could meet up around 7 or a little after and go into the council chambers to listen in. Also, two items after this one is the z-8-19 rezoning, the “Fairweather North” property which we’re talking about here.
FYI. The Glenwood South Neighborhood Collaborative has initiated a survey to its 600+ members, with the results to be shared at the meeting on Tuesday.
Love this! Whomever is sharing maybe ask for supporters to stand up?
How do I get that survey to take? Paramount here.
Is it pro development or a bunch of NIMBYs?
