This is an excellent question…
And of course cities and there councils are run very different, but the zoning process…? ![]()
I was in the back center with my girlfriend. I was the one politely heckling towards the end. If that one lady gets to keep yelling mm’hmm! every 30 seconds, I get to say something.
We definitely need to all come back for the next hearing.
Also, I happened to run into Bonner and his colleague in the parking deck and had to voice my support. He was very, very appreciative of all the people in support who came. He also feels the project is still on track, but obviously he doesn’t have a crystal ball. I expressed my thanks for all they deal with to make our city better, and my frustration with all of the misguided debate.
Really want to say thanks to those that came. It was pretty awesome to stand up and see a majority of the room on their feet, from the front to back, left to right side, there were groups showing support.
Those in opposition were about 10 or so plus the lady in the “No Skyscraper” sweater. It’s like straight out of a Parks and Rec episode.
Russ Stephenson is an A+ politician. He’s great at talking without actually saying anything or at least saying what sounds convenient. He talks about equity. Yes, that makes sense but he wants that injected into every project which doesn’t make sense. He has no plan for equity except to call for it when it’s convenient.
It’s unfortunate tonight that there was some minor snafu with the list of the latest conditions. I felt like everything was in place to get a vote going but with some small reason to delay things, council, especially Russ, will take it and kick it to a future meeting.
From my experience this is the norm and why it is SO hard for me to get folks to show up to things. It’s a freakin grind.
You are completely right. This was exactly a Parks and Rec episode, and I couldn’t figure out how to vocalize it. That’s it in a nutshell.
Somehow I suspect there are two sides to that story. Could the person that they sent it to be on vacation? Or some other type of technicality like that. That is way too amateur for the Kane organization. Russ loved it and ran with it.
The Council of Slow. Thanks for organizing us @dtraleigh.
Sorry I didn’t meet you @GucciLittlePig. Or did I?
I didn’t meet anyone. I might’ve seen John leaving if he was there. I’m still a ghost. I’ll try to do better next time.
Having dinner at La Santa now. This place is pretty good for Glenwood South (GloSo).
Maybe I’ll wear a Yes Skyscraper shirt next meeting. Or would it be a Yes Mid-Rise?
Love LaSanta. Always fresh.
I’d definitely come back. My girlfriend is already saying we need to. Maybe this will be a Tuesday tradition… Frustrating council meetings and tasty Mexican food. @Francisco can correct me if this isn’t true
I’ll wear my low rise pants in opposition…
The back of her sweatshirt (worn on the hottest day of the year may I add) said something about voting No on Egos.
Yes or no vote, I can buy a round afterwards at Parkside or Whiskey Kitchen.
Deal! So we show up again on 8/20?
I’ll support that! Unfortunately I’ll be in Europe by the next council meeting but anything after that.
Save the date but let’s wait for the agenda.
The truth of it is that the new conditions weren’t ready so it’s actually fine that it got pushed. Found that out afterwards.
@R-Dub, two sides
What is the link to the livestream again?
I think Karla and I are out of town but either Leo or I can set up a MeetUp to better organize it.
