State Government

I don’t have personal access to the final renderings portfolio. I have seen it twice within the past 8 months. From what I’ve heard discussed, renderings won’t be released publicity until after the construction phase begins.

That is a bold statement. I hope you are right. Looking forward to seeing the renderings

In Charlotte we had a 33 story building start with no released public renderings until it was under construction. For this new state building, isn’t the lot still being cleared that is what I saw in June or it is scraped clean now? But this tower in Charlotte had foundation work done before it was released as it was 60% preleased so there was no hurry. This state office building does not need to market itself to anyone so I can understand there is no need to hurry.

Welcome to the republican majority where public disclosure of any actions, decisions, votes are deemed unnecessary…

Welcome to China…I mean North Carolina

See those pictures a few posts above of that building in the process of coming down? It’s that lot.

Yes it had just recently started in June when I saw it. My whole point is there is no urgency to release renderings of the new buiding yet as the land is not even cleared yet for new construction. Plus there is no one to “market” the building to as it will be fully occupied day 1.

Agreed! But it would be common courtesy (assuming the concept still exists) to at least release a rendering to the public since the project is being paid with citizens’ tax dollars.

It will be nearly as tall as that pair of buildings as well, being 8-stories of office to Bloc 83’s 10-stories of office!

What is the justification for not releasing? It’s just weird

Wouldn’t they have had to submit all the design plans to get a Building permit from the city? This should be public information.

The permits so far have been utilities, infrastructure, and stormwater. They have the site plans uploaded for those.

To me, it kinda looks like a cross between the newest Rex tower and with the massing additions/ deletions ala Midtown Exchange and Dillon. Its a lot going on.

So you’ve seen them too?? WTF y’all come on and GIVE US THE GOODS!!!

I see that the new building is being built behind the former building… does anyone have any info on what’s proposed for the area that housed the former building?

Surface parking lot, preferably gravel :crossed_fingers:t3:
(kidding, I have no idea)

That bit is part of the site plan with the permits… most of the block will be a giant plaza over the underground parking deck.

Oh good, more empty green space with minimal nearby residents. That’s what that area needs.
