This is miles better than having an empty gravel lot behind the building :man_shrugging:t4: what’s wrong with greenery?

Glad 700K sqft is huge for Raleigh. So unfortunate it’s not taller.

A couple people have apparently seen the renderings, but they’re so top secret they couldn’t even share a cellphone picture.

This is extremely odd to me…

For me it’s mostly that Halifax Mall is right there and it’s rare to see that get utilized for anything. It seems like this will be another space that’s only useful to just sit outside, that just isn’t used very much in practice.

I see it as something that’s good to look at but not a functional space to be honest.

I will be glad when Caswell Square is restored and most of those state owned buildings are cleared away to restore this original Raleigh square. I think all the buildings are planned to be removed except for the historical building facing Jones. Anyone know a timetable for this?

You could see the demolition from my friend’s apartment. He also has a new temporary view of the globe now.

The globe :earth_americas: has been one of just a handful of things that DTR has done correctly to stand out in a cool but unique way :+1:t2::smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

and that was actually a state thing, not a city thing.

And that’s why I stated DTR and not City of Raleigh

You’re all going to think I’m insane but as a brutalism-enjoyer I wish they had renovated the building and built on the giant parking lot behind it.

I have been beating that drum. It had great materials and attractive proportions.

I think it was said upthread it was going to need a serious renovation to be functional, alas.

I don’t care about this one but I am so mad they are going to demolish the Archdale building!

…are they? I thought it was just this and the Bath Building?
