I was back in town for the night to see Pearl Jam and got these photos. Lots of stuff happening!
Nice to see you back around Kevin!
Thank you sir, I’ll have to time my next visit with a meetup!
Anyone ever seen pictures of the inside? Just curious.
There are some interesting comments from folks who have been inside on goodnight Raleigh: Goodnight Raleigh | a look at the art, architecture, history, and people of the city at night
Last week the state sent an email to downtown employees saying that starting in mid July, assigned spaces are no longer required. Employees will still park at their assigned deck or lot, but the spaces will just simply be first-come-first-serve. They said it was because it’s “more efficient” but I sense that a significant number of employees telecommuting part of the time knocks down demand enough. (Except for the underground deck under Halifax Mall, most decks have a good number of spaces empty in them on a daily basis.)
From a Raleigh downtown POV, this can be a good sign that the State expects long-term to actually decrease it’s parking footprint downtown. To be determined…I wouldn’t get too excited, but it’s cautious optimism.
Sure… but employees coming into downtown for work is good for downtown.
I’d bet they’ll just turn the lots into more empty parks rather than sell them off. The state shouldn’t be in the real estate business and all that.
I just ran down to DEQ and took a few pics myself. Damn you @GucciLittlePig for beating me to it.
And a bonus pic… some of my competitors are turning augers in the street. #GeologistLife
I miss the days of having this as an emoji reaction. Lol!
Maybe second place in posting, but I got to see it in person.
And you took the pictures all by yourself!
Third crane is coming says Heede Southeast of Charlotte and it will be a 21 LC 290 model to be exact. Look for where it will be planted and erected soon.

3 cranes, full city block, 0 transparency. At this point they’re just doing it to screw with us
Let’s turn it into a bar
Oh dear, the site is being attacked by a giant blue praying mantis!
Edit: apparently they’re just pouring concrete. No cause for alarm.
I’m kind of floored they need a third crane here.
