Tempo by Hilton Hotel & Homewood Suites

Wow! When I drove past here this morning, I was wondering when there would be a crane, and here we are a few hours later! I hadn’t noticed the base, it was dark out.

Well I took my own anyway lol

Wow!!! The size of this crane is surprising for this project. I’m not sure if I’m more shocked that this one is actually getting built, or 400H!

Not quite as impressive from Boylan Bridge but great infill nonetheless.

Blocking the downtown holding cells/jail won’t be so bad!!

Ah yes it did look taller from the other vantage. Thanks!

I’d love to see the power lines buried.

You can even see North Hills in the background.

Raleigh needs a serious investment into streetcaping. My one complaint here is I’ve never seen a city this big with a lack of streetscaping, un buried lines and string traffic Signals right in downtown

Couldn’t agree more. Would love to see a big streetscape project happen downtown

There is streetscaping. We just make the developers do it as part of their projects. :grimacing::grimacing::grimacing:

Just imagine if we made the developers do the roads the same as streetscaping? :joy: :exploding_head:

True. The Willard did a really nice job with their streetscaping. Now if only we could get our entire main streets like Glenwood in order.

As @Raleighite1 mentioned, it will be a wonderful addition to this view as it should hopefully completely block out the damn jailhouse building. Wish we could get rid of that entirely, but I understand its proximity to the Justice Center only makes sense downtown. But regardless of this development lacking in height, it’s going to add so much more density to this shot.

I think we’ll only see about half the jail blocked from this perspective given the crane is centered to the development.

For years Peace Street has been on the docket for streetscape improvements, but the project keeps getting punted (sorry Pack fans).

Peace St. did get some nice new paved roads & line work. While that project would be great, I’d rather that money go into improving the street scape of Glenwood South, if that money actually exists somewhere.

More crane porn for y’all.

This angle reminds me- Hoping the increased foot traffic from having a large hotel on this corner will,
A: Entice a restauranteur or retailer to finally fill that space on the corner of the L-building, and,
B: Entice a developer to buy that corner lot and build something tall and iconic.

Also fingers still crossed that the ugly ass and under-zoned 10-story Enterprise lot hotel either gets abandoned and someone else buys the lot and upzones it, or else the current owner switches gears and requests an upzone and redesigns a taller, better looking building.
