What’s the crane looking like coming down South Saunders St from the south?
Wow holy electrical wires Batman!
And just a tiny skip away from the new $190 million east civic tower.
HASHTAG CIVIC PRIDE
The last shot looking at it from Nash Sq Park gives a good indication of how much density this will add - Nash Sq appears so much like a park smack dab in the middle of a city until you face South and see the big blank sky above those shorter buildings along Martin - now, there will be a tower popping up behind them, adding to the cavernous, city feel. Will only continue feeling more like a city park as the N&O lot is built up, the new City municipal building is in place, and the (prospective) Nash Hotel on the corner there. Awesome!
I just wish there were more in the works around Moore Sq park to the East
Yeah I thought the Moore Square renovation would’ve goosed development around there by now, but so far not much has happened. Doesn’t help that it’s hemmed in by the Highwoods lot, weddings-only City Market, and a huge superblock federal building with its back turned to the square.
Also, I think the reputation of the area is still holding it back. Of course, those of us who come from bigger cities kind of laugh at the perception that Moore Square/GoRaleigh station is “dangerous” or anything of the sort, but I think that perception is still out there. Ideally, both Nash and Moore squares would have a nice mix of old and new on three sides, with a big civic anchor on the fourth (City Hall for Nash, Marbles for Moore). Nash is on its way, at least, especially due to the hotel plans around it.
You and I both. That part of town is being left behind development wise, I’d love to see more apartment complexes near city market and Moore square.
It’s actually happening! This is an important project since it’s hotel rooms walkable to the convention center.
Nice perspective of this (and Acorn). Good one to daydream about the Nexus and Civic Tower sites as well.

I’m curious about this part of the construction. There’s what looks to be the exterior wall, and then what looks to be another wall outside of that but with very little gap. Ideas?
Really intense escape room?
