I noticed a stand pipe with fire hose hook ups running up the side. I dont know if this a new requirement after that last fire fiasco, but it made good sense to me. (Pipe not in photo, lol)
Wow this looks huge from this angle!
Also it looks like you’re in town for the holiday. I’d see if you wanted to grab a beer but of course it’s the one year we actually travelled out of town… Lol
Found a timelapse of the construction and thought it would be worth sharing
Heard they are shooting for July or August leasing.
I’ll be interested to see how well hidden the garage levels are in the finished design.
Two cranes active today on the hotel portion (Blount Street frontage) of The Acorn site in addition to the tower crane positioned between the two projects.
Seems at least one is involved with the assembly of this structure waiting to be delivered to the site (now accomplished). Top portion delivered earlier.
Why wouldn’t they just use the same crane for both the apartments and hotel for this project? Or, are they just raising the existing crane to accommodate a taller building for the hotel side?
Not associated with this project but believe the existing tower crane will be used for the hotel construction with its placement between the two projects.
However the tower crane has not been recently used for The Acorn. Instead they are completing exterior work with multiple bucket booms.
Tower crane height is driven by the need to clear the adjoining cell phone tower more than building heights.
Unknown what this assemblage delivered today accomplishes. Both cranes down now so may have been there simply to unload.
So can we say confidently they are officially starting construction on the hotel??
It’s removing the tower crane
Hotel’s probably on hold because of [insert various industry excuse here] and will start once market conditions allow [it gets scrapped and someone else starts from scratch].
NOOOOOOOOOO
Maybe they’re just moving it? It does actually seem a bit odd that their original plan was to have a crane smack dab in-between both developments. Makes more sense to move it closer to the street.
