So can we say confidently that they are officially abandoning developing the hotel?? :upside_down_face:

(honestly wouldn’t mind - that render was ugly as hell, not tall enough that close to Fayetteville st, and didn’t have any ground floor retail - would prefer someone serious take over and make better use of the limited lot size)

Definitely disassembling the tower crane. Counterweight and boom extension already removed.

And here I thought the smaller cranes might just be rearranging the staging area in preparation for groundbreaking.

Crane gone.

I do honestly hope this means they’re abandoning their hotel plans for now… thing just underwhelmed the hell out of me. Would love even slightly taller on this lot for some good height variation here (which is looking good so far with the new apartment building and the shorter condos in the foreground). Even just a 10-12 story hotel with ground floor activation would be a huge improvement.

With shared parking with the residential portion or at least significantly less spaces than the usual amount per room… :pray:t4:

Did you notice all the styrofoam everywhere? I walked past it a moment ago and it look like there were light flurries

There have been a lot of complaints about the styrofoam. They must be sculpting Dryvit gargoyles.

There is no acorn emoji (or even oak leaf), so a :peanuts: is the best I can do.

That sounds like a passive aggressive request to @dtraleigh to create an acorn emoji.

Building is fine…nothing wrong with these type complexes (every major city has them). I just wish it were 6-8 blocks away from our “main street” instead of 2

Same; saving grace is that it’s right next to that 2-story condo development which isn’t going anywhere soon, so at least it fits in with its neighbors. More interested to see what becomes of the parking garage facing side… couple SFHs there, and a big ol grass lot.

technically it would require walking 3 blocks to get to Fayetteville Street. That’s 50% more blocks.

Regarding buildings close by, I do know that a company just started doing business right next door:

They also have a direct next-door that looks like it’s currently under construction. Not sure if it’s going to be a separate business or if it’s going to be an extension of Boot and Trunk. I’d imagine it’ll either be more living space or businesses to take advantage of the people living in the immediate area. I know Raleigh Wine Shop just moved a block further out on Bloodworth
