If they have retail spaces included, I hope they’ve already started advertising their vacancies and searching for tenants.

It’s a fairly attractive apartment building… though IMO would be so much more attractive without the random corner of white siding. Like… the black panels and wood accent siding looks great as is. Why always with the random hodgepodge of bullshit on everything???

At least it isn’t sea foam green LOL.

We really do need a seafoam green emoji, don’t we?

Some trees. Looks like there is finally some activity in the lobby. I think the next thing to focus on is the gating for the parking garage. That fence isn’t coming down until at least then.

Sorry, tried to move the focal point on my phone but still loves to give me a crisp chainlink.

Still think this is one of the laziest facades in Raleigh. Makes absolutely no sense.

What’s wrong? You don’t like 3 different shades of grey, wood panel accent siding, white siding, a messy brown and green art mural, visible parking deck openings, and, let’s see - what else does this facade include? :upside_down_face:

It doesn’t include any articulation…projections/indentations, to give it dimension. That’s my biggest problem with it. It’s like a video game building. Made to look 3D, but actually a flat image when you get close

I think that lazy is a rather generous assessment.

This coffee shop in the cinderblock building to the south of The Acorn is having a soft opening at the end of next week. Pretty exciting for the area, because they cut right through the southmost wall of the building and made a door. They’re going to have outdoor seating in the spring.

I think Boot and Trunk next door is only doing weekends for winter hours, but there is no foot traffic with that fence right there. Looks like Williams is working on garage security right now, and hear they’re hoping for mid-February leasing.

I think this is a very important development. Need to really increase density on this part of downtown. The development next to Moore Sq, Vela etc are going to radically change this part of DT for the better when complete

Saw this confirmed as well on the Triangle Food Blog today:

Little Native Coffee, from the team behind Cloche Coffee in Durham, is in soft-open mode at 426 S Person St. Their temporary hours through Saturday are from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. They will begin normal hours next week.

And the best way to validate these creative, mico-retail spaces…is to go visit them and become regulars.

Not pointing fingers, but we all have a tendency to want development for development’s sake (myself included), and neglect holding up our end of the bargain to show our support. Doing so will only further incentivize MORE future like-concepts.

This one is not in my immediate neighborhood, but I do patronize the one that is in mine (Iris Coffee Lab). These types of businesses are neighborhood resources and need support at the neighborhood level.
