The Acorn Apartments / Marriott TownePlace Suites / 415 S. Blount Street

A mobile crane was drilling the footings a week ago, it’ll probably be going vertical around the first of the year.

Has any work been done in the last month? Do they take breaks for winter?

It’s been really quiet over there for a while. All the equipment is just parked in a row off to the side having flattened everything.

Another win for the shadows crowd.

A hole!!! What could this mean??

That’s not very nice to call him that when he shared something! This place is so negative and hurtful.

Drove by. Yep, definitely a muddy hole or two. I did see piping on the side, so looks hopeful that this is actually starting and is not site prep for a parking lot like some feared

Never understood why this project in particular was so doubted by this group. It was never just being repaved for a parking lot. It’s been in an active site prep state for three months with known plans and renderings. Everything was shared here.

The parking lot thing was a terrible take and resulted in useless negativity. There are actual stalled projects that could use our attention and energy, not this one.

Yeah I agree with you. I think we’ve been trained to be disappointed, and it wasn’t warranted here. Happy to see it moving forward. More hotel rooms are always good.

Hey man… I just wanna say, after reading this comment and the one about the UNC HQ building. Like… I’m sorry if you’ve felt slighted in the past but perhaps you aren’t aware that your own comments tend to come off incredibly aggressive and even a little condescending? Perhaps that was why some of your past comments were met with a matching aggressive tone? Food for thought lol

Most of the time I can clearly read most others’ comments as fairly playfully sarcastic. Yours seem… intentionally aggressive. 9 times out of 10, negative comments are coming from a place of disappointment of unmatched expectations - because we love our city and expect the best! And that’s really not that big a deal! But stuff like this… it’s like you are the City of Raleigh taking any negativity personally. It’s never personal, I promise.

Thanks and I’ll work on it but why not DM that? There’s so much personal talk on here and it alienates people. When you all say something directly about me, I try to ignore it because we should talk about Raleigh here, not ourselves. I hate the attention.

I just want to share pictures of the things no one posts about (there’s a ton) and correct the narrative when it’s wrong (it’s wrong a lot). You all aren’t always right, and I’m not always right. But now that I just have to defend myself, there’s no more picture sharing. I’m just warming up to posting again anyway because you have to walk on eggshells here. If it wasn’t personal, I’d post more. You all make it personal, so I hold stuff in.

And obviously I think @GucciLittlePig is unbearable, so his posts put me in a bad mood any time I open the forum now. That doesn’t help. He loves the attention so it will never stop unless he leaves. No, I won’t mute anyone especially when you all keep engaging with him, you wouldn’t be able to make sense of the threads because he posts so much. Back to Raleigh now, next time this can be a DM.

I’ve been contributing here since it started, and I get the most likes each year. Sorry honey, I’m a feature not a bug.

To be fair, you get the most likes because you post the most pictures/updates about DTR, not because people actually like you.

I am really sorry. No one should be made to feel bad. I take the banter as good fun. But I respect that you have taken some things personally and I am truly sorry about that.
