What am I on?? Lol (20 characters)
Sorry, I mean, on this webpage. My personal favorite site, because of contributors such as yourself!
Thanks! Certainly lots of amazing contributors on here!
Has that monster power pole always been at the southwest corner of the property? It seems too significant to be temporary…
Definitely not temporary. It’s part of the high voltage line that goes north up by the Dillon and even up to Smoky Hollow.
Awesome! Starting to rise!

Having trouble remembering- Is this supposed to be 6 or 7 stories?
I think it depends if you count the 1st floor parking level with West St. I believe 7 if that’s counted.
Ok that’s what I thought; so technically 7 stories, but will appear to be 6.
All I care about is that we have a legitimate roof now. Thinking about sneaking on site and setting up a tent to get a feeling for the neighborhood.
5 levels?
Edit: east side penthouses have a 2nd level.
5 floors of units, if you count the West side parking deck level and the 2nd story of the penthouses, that’s 7. In this rendering you’re looking west and north as if from Harrington St, which would be ground level with the 2nd floor, or the 1st floor with any units (only 2 on that level).
0.6 acre site at 401 W. Cabarrus was sold to new developers Maverick Partners out of Durham. Previous developers had gone through the process of getting rezoned to DX-12-UL-CU
Interesting - and still zoned for 12 stories? That’d make quite an impact if they still stick with that proposed height.
Bait and switch! lol
I’ve reached out to Maverick to see if I can get a good contact for info on this property going forward.
Gosh, $3M for a .6 acre site. Currently just has some two-story stuff.
The property was originally under contract with the development team behind the Fairweather condominium project — which is developing the other half of the block. The team ultimately abandoned its plans for the property, but not before rezoning the site for up to 12 stories of mixed-use development.
