West Street Corridor

I feel the same way when IT guys refer to themselves as ‘engineers’. NCBELS finally had to come up with a licensure program for them because so many were practicing engineering illegally without a license it was easier to just get them to prove they new the calculations their programs were making.

Can’t wait for this to open!

Is that their gimmick? They are never going to open, it just keeps you waiting for ever, thus killing your joy.

I’m afraid that space sucks for restaurants. No street presence. A lot of good places have failed there. Any reason to think this one can do better?

Don’t know yet, so no, no reason.

Does seem like a tough spot. I liked Seoul 116 pretty well and it did not last long at all. Definitely been a lot of turnover at that spot. Good luck to the new bar.

I liked the place the 1 time I went. I think the location made it hard to stand out in my mind, tho.

That’s a shame. There are not really many Korean restaurants in Raleigh.

Agreed - i went in January for the first time and noticed it was dead. Left them a 5-star review, then they shut down…

We loved it and went there every 1-2 weeks. We’ll miss it. Hope the new place succeeds!!

Agreed, however, that space has never had so many apartments next door + smoky 1&2 coming to town + Glenwood One & Two + AC Marriott … so it could thrive. Not to mention if 400H ever gets done. AND with everything going on in the warehouse… West Street is going to be one of THE main streets in Raleigh especially if they bring in the bike lanes, etc

It’ll be an interesting test to see if the residential critical mass is there, for sure.

I sure would like their old concrete bar top. Nobody is willing to make those things anymore.

Not sure how preliminary this is, but it appears a dog themed bar is going to open at the West building called Brew Paws where you can bring your own dog. I know some members on here live in the West building and depending if they own dogs should be very excited. I’ve visited a couple of these in Atlanta and Denver and really enjoyed going, the dogs love it too. This will go where Mirage night club was, and it appears they will have kennel space for possibly over night stay.

We voted on an amendment to allow this business to occupy the space last year. It’s been expected but no updates since then (until now). Great to see it’s likely still on! It’ll be a fantastic addition to Smoky Hollow’s retail and the additional residents moving into that area!

@dtraleigh, maybe this should go into the West Street Corridor topic?

The kennel is for the dogs who drink a little too much. They have to sleep it off.

IS that dogs as in canine, human or both

I’ll probably only drink there in the mornings. Y’know, get a little hair of the dog.
