I don’t understand how that’s even possible. I just looked out my backdoor (outside of Charlotte) and this was the view. Snow still coming down pretty hard too.
The YouTube meteorologists I have been watching this week have warned about somewhere getting screwed out of snow in the last 48 hours. Somehow I knew it would be Raleigh.
I’d be curious to know if anyone tracks which geos around the country have the biggest forecast misses for snow. I’ve never seen a place that is constantly off by large amounts like Raleigh. Even less than 12-24 hours out they will whiff by 5-6 inches
Multiple forecasts warned about a dry slot days in advance. Ryan Hall and Greg Fischell totally called where it would be. I think the forecast was extremely accurate for a challenging storm.
Durham escaped the dry slot around 1. Hoping you folks get to have some fun eventually. Looks like around 6 it may finally hit Raleigh.
Is there so MUCH hot air over the state capital city that you deflect snow? We are receiving our biggest snow in Charlotte in 20 years 6-8 inches over most the city and even higher in the ring counties around Charlotte. in the Charlotte suburbs as of 5 pm today.
So the snow has finally arrived, huh? At leas that’s what my weather app says.
According to my app the zipper should have finally closed on Raleigh.
Good to hear the cloud seeding planes from Charlotte have arrived ![]()
Don’t think I would want to trade places with Charlotte. Meanwhile in Raleigh it’s finally snowing like a mother.
Odd that nobody bothered to mention Raleigh’s weather dome. Obv that’s why the foot of snow didn’t happen.
It’s just like you Floridians to remind us of our shortcomings and take all the fun out of what could and should have been a historic snow event .Boooo
The OG podcast talked to Greg Fishel about it the other day. It was a funny set.
Greg Fishel is back in Raleigh and I expect him to have his own cult following- in fact they are meeting at Panera Bread on Saturday. I actually love me some GF and will probably join said cult. Myrtle Beach never suited him anyway nor did driving Ubers and forecasting the weather from afar.
This is tongue and cheek: I saw several holes in the Raleigh Snow Deflection Dome that I think NC State developed secretly. Found more snow up in the North Hills than in downtown but little down there too. No lie it was much more snow seen in Orange County and points west and most around Greensboro.
This is actually pretty funny. And pretty much sums up our 2026 winter wonderland for Raleigh NC.
Reminds me of Boston in May. This will be gone by Wednesday, though.
