Your Unofficial DT Raleigh Boundary

Or from the woods of Alabama. My persception is very much informed by my childhood, and growing up in Fairmont. Growing up 3 blocks from state’s campus, gowing to church in Cameron Park, HS at Broughton I didnt think of downtown starting till you got ti St Mary’s, or Glenwood, lol.

Yeah, I get north Raleigh; I grew up there. My mom still lives there and so do my siblings.
That said, my perception of downtown changed over time as my personal experiences living in Raleigh varied after pretty much living my entire life north of the Beltline as a kid. From going to NC State, to living in a variety of places ITB in various rental situations after college, to living in a condo in downtown proper, how I perceive downtown has certainly changed.
I know people who live in north Raleigh and in the burbs who have a much different opinion of where downtown than I do, and it’s usually a more expansive boundary than my own.

I would suspect that our boundaries are similar. At this point, mine is fairly aligned with the DRA districts though I might be a bit more generous with its boundary to the east. I’m also open to it expanding as the core and dense development pushes beyond the current DRA districts.
