I’m not even sure where the rezoning request ended up. It wasn’t taken to PH or PC as far as I know.

Z-017-19 is no longer listed, though others that were withdrawn show withdrawn, so not sure. I’ll email my contact there and see what’s going on.

From Zimmer Development, the project is still very active. There were some delays due to the election and making adjustments to the design based on city feedback. They are hoping to get a vote on the rezoning request in the coming couple of months.

Also, they’re kicking off a national marketing campaign shortly to attract the “unicorn” they want to kick off the project. Good luck guys! Raleigh is rooting for ya!

I thought they had switched the project to multi-family but it sounds like it’s retaining an office portion if they need a lead tenant to kick off construction.
Interesting that there has been a chain link fence built Over the past two weeks around this corner. Probably hard to see. I wonder if it means anything.

There’s actually 2 layers of fencing at the moment in the foreground.
Liability? I had a response from Zimmer not that long ago and there was no hint at any activity, in fact they haven’t gotten approval for the rezoning so we’re years away from anything in this lot, unless it’s to be parking in the interim.
The black fence in the foreground is related to DOT, etc. Silver is the one I’m pointing out.
I don’t think parking unless Kane needs it for workers on SmoHo Trio. 
Would be awesome if they somehow designed a first floor restaurant with a glass floor over the old roundhouse with lights down below to see it!!

For what purpose ? It doesn’t look in use to me and I’ve never seen a train 
get turned on it. This is the best pic I can make. I see no tracks leading to it.
