New pictures
A crane 3fer in the pictures.
can’t wait for the inevitable comparison shot from @OakCityDylan to this when this tops out
I’ll take every opportunity to state how much I hate the renders for this building. Bulky, blocky, grey and ugly. God I hope it ends up looking better in real life, but usually renders are overly optimistic… I am not. Ugh. YEAH YEAH YEAH “bUt iT WiLL aCtiVaTe ThE sTrEeT aNd PrOviDe MoRe DeNsiTy” blah blah blah. Sh!t is ugly. I have said my peace, GOOD DAY.
I love your enthusiasm for this block. I think sometimes my bar is so low that I forget that we should be pushing for more, better, etc. xoxo
If you look at the paperwork this building will some some wavy design so not entirely blocky up-close at least.
I mainly just wish the height restriction removal was done prior to this being designed. I just hate the 3 crammed together towers of the same exact height all built on top of one gigantic block-long parking deck. It’s just so damn phony looking to me.
Does not look so blocky from some angles. Website shows view from another corner. More curves .
On the Dawson St side, yes. That’s it. Still the same height as the other 2 “towers” and still all connected by one GIGANTIC parking deck. It’s a monolith of concrete.
That’s just a massing rendering, not a pretty doctored up artistic rendering. The building will look better than that, especially if they get creative with parking screening, which hopefully they do.
It could be worse…
Complain to old CC with their stupid restrictions and anti repatriation that made developers not go to hassle of trying to get variances.
THIS one was truly atrocious.
This looks muuuuch much better. Slightly more hopeful.
I’m with you. Not a fan of this one; it’s just awkward all around, and the curves look gimmicky and unresolved.
I’m happy with the street-level condition and the fact that it’s a vast improvement from the previous proposal though.
My biggest issue is that all of the buildings top out at the same/similar height, giving it the appearance of it being one giant building across a sizeable block. Because the block is longer than the towers are tall, it makes the whole project seem squat instead of soaring.
I will be more discerning once more projects actually break ground. I can hardly keep track of all of the “proposals “ but sure is easy to track the actual cranes…
Technically it is a big building connected by a parking pedestal. However, I’m hoping there is enough space between towers to appear as if there are 3 towers from one pedestal.
Yep. That’s a problem that’s only exacerbated by similar height vertical towers coming out of it.
BINGO BANGO BRAND NEW DURANGO.
