301 Hillsborough / Raleigh Crossing

My standard would be to feel free to talk about the shape of the building as much as you want, but find something to compare it to that is not a human body, or body part - especially if the comparison is a negative one.

I honestly don’t know if anyone was or would be offended by anything posted here, but my personal policy is to err on the side of sensitivity as much as possible.

Also not sure if my standard makes sense as a community standard, but as always, I’ll never shy away from an opportunity to share an opinion.

Pictures and info as promised. I’m splitting this up between 2 posts given there are a dozen or so pics. First is general building shots, Pendo floors second. And Cesar, if you make it here, thank you again for your offer and hospitality with the tour! You have a fantastic project that Raleigh can be proud of!

Main lobby. There will be flexible space here to cater to customer/tenant events. The wall behind the security desk will be custom-made and locally sourced wood. There will be 6 elevators from the lobby up to the top.

This the deck just above the parking pedestal, aka amenities deck. This will be accessible and available to all office tenants. Lots of outdoor space to lounge and BIG planters with good size trees that I suspect you’ll be able to see from street level away from the base. The inset areas on the deck here are where the planters will be.

I believe there was some debate if 301 was taller than our round friend next door? I know now that debate isn’t alive, but I thought this was a great shot of not only the Holiday Inn but also the crane (and reflection) that will be coming down in 2 weeks.

On the ground floor behind the elevator area is a large bike room that will be accessible from both Morgan and Hillsborough and will hold ~300 bikes.

This is the 2-truck loading bay on Morgan. This will service the restaurant space pictured below as well as the tenants of the Hillsborough retail space. Rumor has it a local coffee shop will be on the corner where the renderings say “Cafe”. :crossed_fingers:t3:

This is the purpose-built restaurant space at the corner of Dawson/Morgan. I believe it’s 5k sqf?

Some of the best news I got from this tour is that the last couple of months have been met with LOTS of tours of the building for prospective tenants, one quite large potentially taking several more floors and lots of interest for the retail spaces! I think we can all get on board with that encouraging news!

Pendo floor pics next…

Pendo space pics

Coming off the construction elevator this was the view on the top floor, Pendo’s amenity floor effectively. This will be mostly hang out space with various accommodations. Fallon has been working with Pendo’s architects and GC for months so that once Fallon is done with the basic floor construction, Pendo can jump right in with their build out and essentially by the time Fallon is done with the building, Pendo will be able to move in. All of this happening by the end of this year barring any out of the ordinary delays.

301 Hillsborough rendering with Pendo signs and DT Raleigh in the background. Likely any additional signage for an additional company would be east-facing and mid-building height as to be seen easier from street level.

Outdoor balcony space with large sliding doors.

This is the pizza oven you may have seen flying through the sky a couple of weeks ago. It’s well protected and waiting for Pendo to come in and create their space around it.

Beautiful open area where meetings can happen on the next floor down and employees can participate from the upper floor overlooking the meeting space below (mezzanine style).

Next to that large open area are stairs that will connect all of the Pendo floors (separate from the main building staircases.

All of this may convince me to come out of early retirement and apply for a job at Pendo! Maybe they need a barista? :stuck_out_tongue: :coffee:

Hope you enjoyed the pics and I can’t thank Cesar enough for inviting Karla and I and putting up with our million questions!

Thanks for all the pics and updates! Really great to see!

Not sure if this was made clear, but do you know if Phase 2 is still taking up the same footprint on the ground as originally planned, despite it being one building?

The pizza oven is custom made too, shared on Instagram:

Are they making pizza? or is it a perk for employees?

Employee perk. I’m sure they will have things like craft beer clubs and team BBQs and such. We did at Red Hat.

Is it a billion dollar company?

So I guess this means that the rooftop is only for Pendo. I would like to see some more top-floor/ balcony restaurants downtown. That is a cool perk to have at work though.

You’d think they might would have designed the space in a way that their hospitality subcontractor could operate the space over the weekend. #sharedeconomy

I asked about the possibility of shared public space in the building like The Dillon but there will be none in this particular building. They’re keeping the general amenities to either the floor contract holder (Pendo for the top floor) and the other tenants for the building-wide amenities like the parking pedestal “rooftop” space, bike storage, showers (Pendo also has their own showers/locker rooms), etc.

I’m surprised someone of your advanced age knows that term!
