Hopefully, you will adopt that attitude on your next visit to Durham.
Lol I was only kidding. Half the reason I moved to Raleigh is that it’s close to Durham. I’m in dt Durham at least once a week.
I think I’m gonna remain skeptical until I see a crane going up, but man, this has been a long time coming.
Fair enough - we’ve been burned so many times before. This project does seem to, finally, have real money behind it. I feel, dare I say, almost confident.
Great reporting sir!
Also, the mobile office is onsite with a generator! Meaning they must not be waiting for duke energy to set their T-pole to get power going in the mobile office!!!
Took a few more walking around it. Amazing to see various details that are completely rotting. Happy they’re demolishing this building before something fell on a passerby. Also, still some space for rent upstairs apparently…
Awesome pictures! Thank you
Does the fence go completely around the full block?
Or are there any holdouts?
Nope, all the way around the block!
There are 2 of them as of Sunday morning…….
Nice! Thanks for the update!
I could cry I’m so happy!
The permits needed to get started have been issued. There is another building permit review schedule for 10/4. I think this also includes plumbing and mechanical reviews.
That looks like a fun job…minus the rain
Wanted to share a few more. I loved seeing the old windows briefly exposed on the side of the old Piggly Wiggly!
So Publix isn’t the first downtown grocer?!
There was also some grocery store in seaboard station that became Phydeaux and then a furniture store. Everyone was all excited about it but then it closed before I moved here. Like Greenshields brewery in City Market.
