Another angle:
I keep wondering how much longer the old Hicks mansion is going to stay.
Is that Second Empire or that orange house or something else?
Orange house
Ah, gotcha. Btw something about Hicks Mansion makes me picture Beverly Hillbillies lol
Yeah, I have no problem with that building, but Iām still hoping Fallon or someone else gets going on redeveloping that awkwardly left second phase of Raleigh Crossing.
Took these on the 3rd, so the buildingās a floor or two further along now.
Pick your poison - glare from the windows at DH Hill Library
Or a smokestack in the way from the Dabney Hall stairwell
Love that smoke stack.
Me too! (itās my office building )
A biggish City angleā¦
It doesnāt look like a big city to me. One existing new building, an old out of date hotel and one building under construction. Pretty sad from this perspective actually.
The shingle roof thatās in the picture is what really makes the perspective oddā¦ donāt see many shingles in metropolitan areas!
Old meet new
It feels like old town is getting enclosed by glass towers.
Anyone have access to W-F? Can you get a photo of 400H from there, with the old water tower in the background?
Maybe I should be asking for one of our drone operators . . .
That why I say biggish. Because there a gap where there could be another building.
To me it looks like the biggish city in the world.
I wonder if State of Beer is willing to relocate here once the their block gets redeveloped. Itās only a matter of time. Probably to early to know what retail will go in the bottom floor but would be nice if the retail spots donāt sit for a while.
If I remember correctly from a city council meeting I watched, State of Beer should be going into the new 401 Hillsborough building. Someone correct me if Iām wrong.
Just gotta wonder what theyāll do in the interim when 401 Building is being built!
And what am I gonna do? I feel like Iām there every time I go downtown
