865 W Morgan Street (former Goodnight's)

Lol i was thinking about riding the tide of sitting beside an unsettled stomach… feeling someone else’s vibrations is the last thing I want from the new club experience.

Great news! I’m still sorry that the old building is going to be torn down, but to me, putting the new location in the Village District and resurrecting the Underground is pretty much best case scenario!

Can’t wait to check out a show in the new space!

Some of you all nailed that prediction. Also we’re getting a Shake Shack? Cool.

You have to wonder who they would like to book for their first big show at the new location? Go for somebody local or try and book a big name? The Hangover duo Zach Galifinakis (however you spell that) and Ken Jeong both have ties to the area too and I know they still do standup still.

Either way I think this will have a huge effect on the Village District and might spur on some more development.

This is GREAT news, don’t think it could’ve worked out better. And the Village District needs to loosen up a bit with the nightlife options, so a comedy club there will work wonders.

I remember back when Fosters would turn into a club at night. That was one of my favorite hangout spots.

They had a great upstairs/outside area. Felt like something should have taken that spot over for the longest time.

I guess it is official now that Goodnights is moving to the Village District.

I’m also intrigued to see how Goodnights helps with the transformation from simple outdoor shopping center into a true “district” as the rebranding suggests. This could help support the draw of increased foot traffic in the area if the plans to build a hotel come to fruition. I know there are a few service-oriented businesses along with the retail and restaurants, but I don’t think there’s a true “entertainment” option in/around VD, unless you consider Raleigh Little Theater in its “district” sphere, but that’s kind of a stretch to consider Gardener Street as part of VD, imo. It’s mostly food/bev after 7p, and the whole area feels dead at night after 10p with the exception of like 1 restaurant-bar. If there could be at least a couple more entertainment or late night options other than V Drafthouse, that’d be cool. I feel like I only ever go to VD to eat, bank, or grocery shop. Would be nice to be able to enjoy new experiences there.

The Raleigh Mag podcast folks spoke with some of the people behind Goodnights on their latest podcast. It was interesting they said they scouted the old Kimbrell’s spot first before setting on the underground in the Village District. Gives me hope people are considering doing something cool with that spot.

Would have been dope if they could have gotten the Kimbell’s location. Fay St needs the foot traffic.

Could’ve been very cool, but then so is re-activating part of the Village Subway with an underground venue! I do hope someone brings an entertainment/activity to the Kimbrell’s space. Said it before, but I think an art gallery/art experience similar to (or even done by) Meow Wolf would be absolutely amazing there.

I feel something like Pins Mechanical would kill it here. I feel Glenwood South gets all the rooftop balcony bars and think one on Fayetteville street is overdue. A place like Pins has bowling, arcades, patio games, etc. Feel it would bring foot traffic for sure and encourage people to come to Fayetteville street.

Sounds similar to Bourbon Bowl in Greensboro. Pretty sweet venue.

Just sharing for those unfamiliar- they have galleries in Denver, Vegas, Santa Fe, and two places in TX. Could absolutely see one being HUGE here.
