That’s a lot of “ifs” to get around to countering my point… which is that I think it’s a bit disingenuous to say that wanting a better standard of pay in America is just “throwing money at things” as @evan.j.bost states. It is an undeniable fact that while the cost of living has risen exponentially, wages haven’t matched it in 20+ years. COVID putting so many out of work for the better part of a year has forced people to reexamine how they make their income, and coming back, it’s a LOT less enticing to make poverty-level wages for their labor when a pandemic could hit and put them right back out of work again.
Uh I’m sorry, I was assured by people that sounded very serious that the labor issues were caused by the extension of unemployment benefits and workers “collecting handouts instead of working.” Once those unemployment benefits expire surely job vacancies will be solved. Now time for me to take a big sip of coffee and look up when those benefits expire.
Love the pics, would love to see the Nexus development rise up at some time in the future, from the first pic.
400 Hillsborough might make a dent in that view as well, but all for the greater good.
That’s fine, so long as it blocks out that hideous Pendo Tower parking deck…
Phase 2 of 301H will block out the unscreened portion of the parking deck also…
…with a FULL BLOCK of horribly screened parking deck! yayyyyyyyy
Also “Phase 2” lmao - if that ever happens
until then, 400H seems like it will be built long before we even hear of Fallon’s plans for Phase 2 after they put it on hold, so that will suffice for the time being!
Messaged the Senior project manager about Phase 2 last month. Didn’t get much info back…I feel like it’s going to be put on hold for awhile.
Bingo. We’re gonna be stuck with that awful backside for a while… My hot take: They’re gonna downscale and fill in the rest of the block with a 5-over-1 beige apartment building
That’s some nice sidewalk work now I don’t have to walk on the road when someone is walking towards me.
Just wish this had some color… as it stands, it looks unfinished.
Was just thinking the same thing. Even if it was a brick accent or something.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen an AC Marriott that wasn’t this exact color scheme. I’m sure they exist, but I have yet to find one. Don’t think it will age well… light neutral colors are very in right now, and I don’t anticipate that lasting longer than a decade or so.
i know it’s temporary, but those wood planks where glass should be looks extremely tacky
Currently building a home. My contractor said custom glass is currently at a 3-4 month lead time from order right now, tho you think a big build would have the resources to make that happen faster. Probably broke a few pieces during install and decided it wasn’t worth push backing the open date.
I believe the one in Greenville SC is mostly brick veneer. Looks nice.
