I wish it was public what the issue is. This is frustrating.

It looks like stuff with the fire walls and code summary sheet and things not matching. You can see some of the comments here:

These comments really make you appreciate the review process. Ooops, left out the fire rated walls and CO detectors. Thanks for keeping people safe reviewer folks.

Surey the project manager/superintendent/inspection staff would catch it in a preconstruction meeting or walkthrough, but definitely better to get it on the plan from the onset.

The Willard folks are going for another review on 11/27. Hopefully, they will get it right this time.

Saw today that they have finally cut down all the large trees left on this lot. Also spoke with someone in the Cupcake Shoppe who said a foreman for The Willard came in for coffee and said we should see a crane up by February.

Wow that’s great I was starting to think they were going to let it sit empty for a few years or somthing!

Also, are we going to see yet another parking deck on the west side (back side) of this project? I personally am super excited that something is going into this space… but still not in love with the design. It looks like just any other ac marriott design you would see out in the suburbs somewhere. Oh well, at least we are getting something… which is much needed!

This is good news. It’s still awaiting approvals with the City tho, right? I assume that needs to be done before they can start, and it’s been through several rounds already

I’ve never seen an AC Hotel in the suburbs, just North Hills, downtown Asheville, and downtown somewhere else (New Orleans or Denver maybe? I forget). I like the design. I think something clean and modern like this is a perfect transition and connector from the older Glenwood South stuff and the new Bloc 83 district.

I stayed in one two weeks ago and I’m a fan.

Man, we are getting stuff done! Between the Fairweather, 301H, and this, we will already have 3 cranes across the skyline!

I agree, we are off to a great start!

I doubt we’ll see the Fairweather crane much past February, may come down next month. Once the remaining steel is erected, she gone.

True. Maybe we will get the Nexus crane instead :building_construction:

When I look at the City’s permit portal, it says the permits are ready for issuance. However, when you click on the building permit, it says there is another review on 1/9. The City’s permit portal is not the clearest thing to read. But, the Willard seems to be close to getting its permits.

Very interesting, thank you for the update. I guess we’ll have to check again tomorrow and the days ahead.

Well, it looks like after today’s review, most permits have been approved. There are a couple of stormwater items they need to provide and some engineering items. Sureties and traffic control plans. They are close. All of the permits for the building itself have been approved. The city sure doesn’t make it easy to get buildings constructed downtown.
