AC Hotel Raleigh Downtown

But can you imagine if developers weren’t held to some traffic control standard? How about if stormwater impacts weren’t looked at? Just pipe hat shit straight to the neighbors yard and be done. “Get out of my way I got a million zillion dollars to make off you suckers!” isn’t gonna work.

Sounds a lot like similar concerns raised around proposed “no limit” ADUs

Feared impact and actual impact are of course different. You could allow ADUs, just like any other development, and put them through the exact same review process. Project specific concerns should be addressed in the permitting process. If your ADU overwhelms the storm inlet, you get to build a new one or shrink your impervious area or build an infiltration basin, e.g.

Problem is a lot of the proponents of ADUs want “no restrictions” whatsoever…:I was just tying to make a point. Don’t want to derail this thread.

You guys better not derail it. Every time this thread pops up with something new I get excited that it’s finally moving forward. Don’t tease me like that!

There was some good news then derailed to the ADU debate. :joy:

Just to screw with you guys a little more, I did see Pike electric moving a backhoe into what I assuming is the back side of what will be the Nash hotel this morning. Moving underground electrical lines I suppose but definitely some work going on.

I’m sure this belongs on a different thread too

I’m also looking forward to this one too LOL

I don’t think there is any connection between valid review of large projects that have potentially large impacts and people grasping at straws to keep ADUs out of their neighborhood. And since I support ADUs I won’t let my comments about Willard review, being fine and proper, be made to seem like this huge pile of unnecessary red tape.

Will this be like the aloft on Hillsborough as far as size and layout? Hotel up front with small exposed parking deck in rear?

In case you forgot what this project looks like right now…

And you got naming rights to the alley too?

Given the stage of the project that was easy peasy.

I think this is my most frustration-inducing project in Raleigh. Just get going already! LOL

I agree. An analysis of the long timeline would be an interesting read.

More frustrating than 400H or Edison office tower?

Yes because I gave up on them. Well, 400H wins second my frustration-inducing. I’m still not over that yet.

Tho now that I remember this, I’m angry again. I moved here after seeing renderings of what was going to be built in Raleigh.

Ah, the city that could have been…sigh! :frowning::cry:

They could still build the north tower. It’s a dirt lot still.

And, the Edison Lofts are stick built. So, they could very easily be demolished and re-envisioned as the tower of light in the rendering.
