I’ll try to remember to roll up that way on my roll home. It’s a few blocks out of the way. :stuck_out_tongue:

i ran by in the dark last night and it looked like more demo of the ground/foundation/retaining walls but i couldn’t really tell. hoping to see some news on thursday if its newest review is approved

@dtraleigh, the last few probably could be moved to the Willard thread.

You’ve never taken an emergency whiz behind Aloft then…

Actively clearing the site today (finally). It’s amazing how empty it is in person. Can’t wait for them to finally start building

Went by today. Nothing that noteworthy to take a picture of, but all the dirt behind the brick retaining wall is gone, and the sidewalk looks about to be fenced off. A lot of the hill and contours of the land are gone now. Glad this is finally happening!

It looks like the Willard has all of it’s permit approvals. They haven’t all been issued, but that is probably just the contractor waiting until he needs them. The permit fees, by the way, are $364,040.00.

Is some of that actually ‘impact fees’?

The permit portal just listed the total fees. I didn’t see a breakdown of what they all were. But, then again, I didn’t look for the breakdown either. My bad.

All good. Was just curious. Impact fees have been campaign items/issues in Wake County/Raleigh in the past. They are woefully small, and hence all the bond issues…so I was wondering if there was some details I could look over.

They’re blocking off part of Glenwood for construction space. It’s definitely happening!

Wow they’ve got steel beams and that machine that puts them into the ground for foundations already! They’re not gonna be that far behind the Bloc83 parking deck.

Thanks for the last shot with northern skyline included.
Shows how close this is relative to the rest of the Glenwood district. The Willard will really bridge the Hillsborough and the Glenwood area quite nicely.

Yes, definitely connects the Hillsborough to Glenwood nicely. Going up Glenwood, there is still quite a “dead zone” between The Willard and Plates, but this is definitely a step in the right direction! Really exciting

It looks like all of the Willard’s outstanding permits were issued today.
