See, this is how you hide a parking deck. I can’t wait till they build a (hopefully taller) taller on the south side of this deck (Harget St side) and all that’s visible of the deck is a little vertical strip between the two buildings.
I know I know… can’t change now… should have been taller, etc etc. BUT, why would they have not put some sort of rooftop bar/restaurant on the east side? Would have such beautiful views of Raleigh, other parking decks, etc.
I went to the top of The Origin deck the other week. Literally one of the best views of Raleigh. My exact thought was there should be a rooftop bar up there. Really disappointing, it’s something DT Raleigh needs.
Is it too late for the half of the top deck to be converted into a usable space?
I forgot what city I was in but I’ve been to a party at the top of a parking deck before. You could pretty easily block off the top floor and bring up some food/brewery trucks.
I had this same thought except adding a putt putt course next to a patio with food trucks and beer trailer. Late spring to early fall.
Ponce City Market in Atlanta has a rooftop attraction with food, drinks, mini-golf, a three-story side, etc.
Miami Beach famously does this with their Herzog & de Meuron 1111 Lincoln Rd building/garage.

That’s awesome John. Have you ever been to a function held there?
Yes I have. If you google that garage, there’s all sorts of photos of different events.
Ironically was at the top of this deck this afternoon. Really awesome views on a sunny day, especially loved all the construction and cranes and north hills
Top of parking deck between 2 buildings. Private, but open (normally) for public events.
Still on my soapbox for making top level of parking decks more people oriented rather than vehicles. Google Earth view of Cira Green prior to installation of the video screen.
Yeah, this is a cool space. Too bad Bloc83 didn’t take good notes…woulda been spectacular there.
I think that this is sort of the proposal for the SH3 tower. Isn’t the intention to have an elevated public space above the podium on that block? It could be a spectacular place to be!
Their bar and restaurant are open. Spent a couple of hours talking with the bartender and bar manager this evening. Definitely been a complicated opening for them with all of this going on, but great ambience and tasty drinks and friendly people. We’ll be back.
Thanks for the report. It will be on this weekend’s agenda.
Cool picture of Sir Walter Raleigh
Thank you for sharing
At first I didn’t have a clue what the hell you were talking about… then I zoomed in
