Are you saying this because it got delivered this afternoon? I just noticed it was there and it wasn’t earlier today.
I saw it there when I was showing my mom the view from the origin parking deck. Welcome to Raleigh. Here’s my favorite dirt hole.
Looks like they’re setting up 3 mobile cranes on site.
We just want one BIG one!
They seem to be just setting up the one big new crane. There’s a smaller mobile crane at the parking deck site that has been there, and the little crane truck that’s assembling the new big crane.
Wow the street is going to be closed forever!
I think they said a year maybe? Until the project is basically done.
this is the crane that they’re going to use for both the parking garage and bloc 83? i figured they’d each have their own.
The closer is really bothersome. Living on the corner of Boylan and Johnson, it’s especially frustrating that both of these roads have “closures” on them at the same time.
It’s ok. Once this is done, they’ll probably do something to the remaining nearby properties and close adjacent roads. Maybe ask Dylan if there’s still homes available at the Fairweather…
This one’s gonna go up fast! Definitely will get done ages before 301 Hillsborough.
Looks like we also have (some) steel onsite!!
yay! finally! it doesn’t seem like there’s enough room for this crane to maneuver to the other side for the parking garage. I’m assuming they’ll need a second? (Or do you think they’ll wait until bloc 83 is framed before going vertical on the garage?)
I don’t think they’re going to wait at all on the garage. Once the ground-level construction/prep work is done, I suspect we’ll see another one of these mobile cranes on Boylan erecting the garage and the west side of the building. That’s where I’m putting my bet.
I’m presuming that the tower will be steel and the garage will be concrete. Their different erections will likely use different equipment.
Just to reflect on SmoHo Phase 2, the steel commercial building and lego/erector set parking garage of concrete panels were both assembled with the same type of crane, same one that’s currently positioned between One Glenwood and the construction.
And it’s going up now!
As far as the cranes, there’s a second one at the parking deck that has been there. Not sure if it’s big enough to assemble the deck tho. I guess we’ll all find out soon tho
DANG!!! That was fast!! Four columns already up. This will be a distraction for the next several months. haha
