It’s interesting that this has happened, and I can’t help but wonder what happened. The Origin main site lists the 2 in CO, Austin, and KY and has no reference to ever having the Raleigh one. It also looked different and less cool than their other locations, plus it took forever actually open. I’m guessing something(s) went wrong and they just decided to cut their losses.
Actually, it’s already switched over on Google, and the Origin Raleigh site redirects to the main site. There is a new site for it, with some carefully selected photos:
Did you already think Raleigh had too many generic names for places chosen for how inoffensive they are? Well now we’re just going to lean into it and number evertything.
Formerly known as the Origin Hotel Raleigh, Hotel 83 was sold for $31.5 million in late April to Pyramid Hotel Group, the Boston-based company that manages the Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club in Durham. The new owner is planning to rebrand the hotel this summer to a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, part of Marriott’s (Nasdaq: MAR) upscale collection of independent hotels.
Ah, nice. I think this will be a better fit than… whatever Origin was going for.
I think that was sarcasm? Hard to tell on here, and I’m not great at picking up on it anyway. Regardless, I’m assuming they’ll rework the rooms a bit to fit their brand. Tribute Portfolio hotels are usually pretty swanky. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
