Downtown hotels

I think that would be perfect @mike

That really does need to be sent to them and city council. I’d just like to see that block east of Moore Square get something done for it. It looks so awful right now.

Can you imagine the uproar this would create? I mean HS!!!

Granted the CAC was blown up but Octavia is still around…lurking.

Propose building a high end hotel that looks like something in Paris on the same site as the Raleigh Rescue Mission and Salvation Army site?!!!

It would be entertaining to say the least…

Good place they could build where that Enterprise place is downtown right next to the convention center not far, from the original proposed site and the two proposed 40 story towers.

That’s a really good observation.

I’m not seeing the 1k car parking garage in this rendering. :-1:t3: :red_car: :oncoming_automobile: :blue_car:

South and east of that block in all directions. The further you go, the more affordable it is!

My apologies. I was under the impression Rescue Mission and Salvation Army were or already had new facilities built elsewhere?

I think this is sarcastic, but if that really was a concern they could add more parking below grade for this whole block - isn’t that what they are planning with the convention center proposal anyway.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m 100% in favor of building the hotel there. I just think the political backlash soap opera will be too much, even for this Council.

Cool concept, but I think buildings should aim to complete the street edge bordering Moore Square to activate that space – not create an inward plaza that would divert activity away from it.

Well, the SA did at one point have a plan to move out of downtown. I’m not sure if they actually did. To my knowledge, the RRM is still there. I imagine it would be hard for them to get a new location without a huge NIMBY backlash.

I will submit to lashing if needed. But I was under impression that area had changed so much over last 10 years, or so, that the RRM does not serve local population any more. May be best if moved to area where it better serves local population. ???

Also thought the Moore Square redevelopment was in part to spur more redevelopment in area. The hotel and office buildings east of Moore looks like what was wanted.

I think it’s good that a chain like Grand Bohemian is interested in DTR. I agree with the general consensus that this isn’t the right location and clearly isn’t what the council had in mind. I think the block east of Moore Square is a very strong choice.

SA has the newish building at Capital and Crabtree Bvlds. Just not sure if it has the same functions and is meant to replace the building at Moore Sq.

There are a lot more houses selling for 500k down there than you might think. These have been there 5 years or so

Yeah why not and I’ll still get it share of being in the skyline city skyline of Raleigh.

New ground floor level design for the Home 2 & Tru Hotel looks really good. Basically adding a huge set back instead of stepback to provide a better ground floor experience. Guys need to check out the latest alternative design document it’s full of high quality images and plans.

From the above image you can see the huge set back at the bottom left corner.
