Downtown hotels

Where is the demolition machinery?

Didn’t someone post that demolition was just to prevent homeless from sleeping in the abandoned buildings? I spy another future parking lot…

McDowell and Davie. Hilton Garden Inn/ Homewood suites location I think

There was some rumor/post that the fence went up because Bloomberg’s office was across the street and they had a bunch of vagrants breaking into the building.

Hopefully a parking lot is not the future for the site but the excavator is on the lot and it’s owned by a demolition company so something is getting ready to get “torn the hell up”!!!

UncleJesse giving it to the masses raw and uncut lol, he’s hard but he’s fair, I agree we need for these local developers besides Kane and I will throw Grubb in there begrudgingly lol to STEP UP !

Is that factual of just conjecture? Really interested in this site as I live nearby.

I thought there was some study of which of the city-owned assets (downtown land and buildings) they could sell off and that block was on there. Can’t find it right now.

But this article for the 0.21 acre corner plot at Martin/Person kinda mentions it.
https://www.newsobserver.com/news/business/article55615320.html (my thinking at the time was Banner bought that hoping it would give them a leg up to scope up the rest whenever the city sells. and I bet they probably just build another Lincoln apt complex)

Thanks mike. I knew the owners of The Lincoln had purchased the old Killo site but I had not seen that comment about the City marketing the property to private developers. Very interesting …

Will miss that building weirdly.

Anyone reached out to the developer? Is the hotel going to be built soon or is this another parking lot?

I’m happy to initiate that communication if somebody has the contact info handy. I’ve pulled it from the ASR form in the past but not sure where that is without digging (don’t have time today).

That entire block has a fence around it now.

Just the 2 hotel sites, right? I haven’t been by there lately, is the Firestone lot going too?

I just walked by, only the two hotel sites have fencing around them. Plus whisky kitchen would have an issue with fencing around their business.

Unless I am mistaken, there was a fence in front of Berkeley Cafe.

Check out the last pic here. It stops right before.
