Where on the invite does it say that they’ll have punch and pie?
It might be a BYOLD (bring your own Little Debbie’s)
There’s now a Wikipedia page for downtown south if you guys want to add information or anything like that Downtown South - Wikipedia
Guys downtown south will host meeting 08/31/2022
From 6:00pm 7:00pm
This meeting is open to the public. Please share the below Zoom link with anyone who may be interested in learning more about the Downtown South project.
ZOOM INFORMATION:
The Downtown South Quarterly Meeting is tonight on their Zoom Site from 6pm to 7pm.
I saw some of the meeting today. In phase one will be a 14 story tower completed in I think 2024. A 27 story tower in 2025. Still no funding for a stadium but they have not given up on a stadium.
Concert venue in Downtown South. I think this will be great for the area!
I mean, this is great, but I really wish this kinda shit was being built in Downtown proper. All this will do is cement the unlikelihood of anything like this ever actually being built downtown.
it’s tough to put any new venues anywhere downtown proper due to the large amount of space you need for the stage, green rooms, bars, standing space, etc. I think the only way a new venue could come about is by repurposing a nightclub on Glenwood. Plus we do have the Lincoln Theater, just need better acts booked there
Please put that in ALL-CAPS
Awesome news! Raleigh could really use a new live music venue like this.
It’s very different, but this takes some of the Sting out of losing C. Grace.
There were rumors that Midtown Exchange is going to include a venue by Live Nation, but I haven’t heard anything on that in a while.
lol also I will say I don’t know of many cities of similar size who have many venues in their downtowns. typically they are more on the perimeter in industrial parts of their cities. even Charlotte’s Music factory is on the outskirts of “uptown”
Totally fair, but my thought is why couldn’t WE be the city that DOES have a music venue of this caliber directly in/around the downtown area? Regardless, this isn’t too far from downtown and hopefully over time will be better connected to the city at large, so this is still a major positive!
Does anybody knows what this news means for the stadium that was being talked about in Downtown South?
3,500 capacity is a big ballroom! DPAC maxes out at 2,712 for perspective. We may actually be able to steal some performances from DPAC, and book bigger acts! I like the 3,500 cap because it rules out the Maroon 5s of the world, lol.
That would be so sick.
Can we name it Penmarc Theater instead of Downtown South Theater FFS
This render perfectly represents how I feel about Downtown South with the actual downtown in the distance over the trees.
