It’s so Miami to have residential towers named for luxury car brands. First it was Porsche, then it was Aston Martin, now it’s Bentley.
The real Miami needs a tower named after the Corolla, and it should be built in Hialeah or Kendall.

Chido Taco is open and very crowded with people sitting outside on the new tables.

Good for them

there is someone at city council who continually says to redevelop parking lots downtown, i guess as mixed/multi use structures? is his vision valid and doable? extrapolating further, corporation buys lot, offers job and housing discount in same building kind of thing. milltowns in nc many years ago offered housing near to their plants.

Yes, it’s possible to turn surface level parking lots into multi-use structures.

$4 for a small tongue taco. Boy taco inflation is through the roof!

I pay $1.50 to $2 a taco in LA so I’m struggling to justify the cost here. At least this leaves room for competition.

Do you buy those $2 tacos at bougie spots on main shopping drags?

If you compare with a place like, say, Moe’s… it starts to look pretty good. That said I don’t get the tacos, just tortas and street corn. Tortas are big enough for 2 meals.

Yeah I feel like everyone likes to complain about burgers, Asian food, and Mexican food being overpriced. Inflation’s definitely a thing, but if you’re eating meat, it should be somewhat expensive. Add to that paying your staff decently, rent in the fancy location, the buildout of that space, and the loans to start a new business. There’s a reason Taco Bell and McDonald’s are cheap. To be fair, I can’t speak intelligently on the price of tongue tacos in LA.

The bougiest taco places in downtown Los Angeles are Guisados and probably Tacos 1986 (maybe?).

They haven’t reached $4 yet on their most expensive tacos but close. However Guisados is on a whole different level of quality and cuisine.

Not arguing that - I miss California/Texas quality Mexican food every day. Closest I’ve gotten in the Triangle is La Vaquita in Durham.

Mi Calvillo in Durham has hands down the best Mexican in the Triangle and tacos are only $2.50

Well I’m glad Chidos Tacos has found success so far. And I hope this spurs more retail to open. Because lord knows the lack of activity on Fayetteville Street has dragged on for too long.

My favorite taco stand in Miami Beach has tacos from $4.25-5.75.

Something is going right for them so far again today, the line was out the door and onto the sidewalk!

It’s almost like prices differ in different areas of the country due to varying supply and demand
