That would be an awesome location for a start-up or a home-grown stable small business.
This, THIS, is the kind of re-development project our city needs! Keeping historic character, adding density, modern-ish architecture, hats off to Monarch. If only we could get something so thoughtful over at the Goodnight’s Comedy Club Building…
10 more food stalls and the grocery…yes, please…
So what’s the deal with Saxapaw?
I have somewhat of an update! Had a meeting with the GM/soon to be former GM of Transfer last night (who will still very much be involved with Transfer, just stepping down from day-to-day operations to take on a much larger and very exciting new development partnership project), and he said that construction on this new building should start any time now - basically, they are hoping for Spring/early summer at latest. So no clear start date, but this project is still very much in process and it sounds like we should see something happening soon! He was very excited about it, and so am I!
What is Nick Neptune’s next development partnership you are talking about?
Able to expand on this?
Nope! I’ve probably said too much already haha. And honestly, that is really all the info I have that I can share at this moment, but it is very exciting as I’m sure those of you who know him know how much he loves and believes in Raleigh, and especially in bringing our community together. So the most I can say is that he and his team will be focusing on developing community spaces that are there to bring everyone together. I am sure he will share an announcement or news of his new venture when the time is right for him! I probably shouldn’t share that news for him when it was shared with me in private, my apologies for igniting curiosities!
Haha! Hey you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take, figured I’d try. Can’t wait to see what it is
Also goes without saying but if you know him PLEASE do not pester him to ask about it. I’d feel bad. Once it becomes public knowledge and more info is out there, I’m sure it will be shared. Hell, I’m just as curious as y’all to see what becomes of it! The takeaway here is that the Saxapahaw store and associated building is most definitely still in the works, and he confirmed that it will 100% look like that GORGEOUS rendering that’s been shared.
I don’t know the guy, and while I’m happy for some positive new project that may be coming from him… Yes, this is the takeaway for me, and I’m very excited about the Sax store actually still happening. Love the recent renderings, and had almost written this off. So thanks for sharing!!
I specifically asked if the final product will match the renderings because as we all know… that hardly ever ends up being the case. And his reaction was basically “no shit it will!” So we can certainly expect the same quality that has come with the Food Hall itself and the connected townhomes.
I’ve traveled a couple times to far eastern Morocco, Oujda to be exact, and had a marvelous time. The people were wonderful, the culture laid back like Italy - at least for men, there were no women in the coffee shops, ever - and the food was fantastic. That was my greatest surprise, just how abundant Morocco is food-wise. Enjoy the trip!
@Francisco - I didn’t look at the dates, lol. I don’t guess you made your trip!
Nope, lol. Had to be cancelled. I will plan to go again when the time is right but I have other places I’m visiting this year so I don’t know when I get to to visit Morocco.
Fun fact, Morocco has a HIGH SPEED RAIL network…and the US doesn’t.
Operating speed 320 km/h (200 mph)!
Yes, they got a high speed line and a freeway system at the same time, lol.
Anyone know what’s actually happening with this project? With the hotel/apartments happening 1 block away, it got me thinking about this last piece still missing from the food hall.
…1 year later… building permit applied for last month. honestly though, seems it would be better just to expand the patio into that area and have more flexibility for the space
Personally, I think the store will do gangbusters business there. I’m excited for it.
Yeah this is great news that it apparently is FINALLY getting underway!
