Glenwood South Restaurant/Bar Renovations

I saw your second post as I hit send. Thanks for sharing.
This is a pretty cool spot. I had my eye on it when hanging at the original D+D ( which I miss)…
Still, this could be quite the funky little spot and a great place to hang and check out the Bloc 83 happenings ( I’d position myself to focus on the buildings / courtyard and less so on the parking deck LoL)

It is wild to me that they are investing capital and reusing that spot for single-story. Feels like everything in that area is getting denser and building taller. Hopefully the outdoor portion of this will be really nice, which as @evan.j.bost says, is well-timed with requirements from the pandemic.

The ASR for the Devolve Moto renovation (304/306 Glenwood) popped back up on the wire. I don’t see any real updates upon skimming the doc but maybe this at least is to suggest the project is still active.

You’d think they would go for a restaurant in this space now. Private bars in downtown Raleigh may become extinct within the next few years.

Maybe I’m late to noticing this, but the new owner of Larry’s guitar has changed the exterior. Didn’t the owner of Beer Garden purchase this?

This is owned by the Cornerstone ownership group. Entrance to “The Village” which is currently the big open space nestled between this building, the former Black Flower and Flash House. Basically Cornerstone 2.0.

Closed until March, I believe.

They “own” or lease? Cornerstone adds so much to Raleigh…

I somehow had no idea Flash House was gone until my wife and I passed by it like a month and a half ago. Super disappointed. Flash House was a really interesting and unique bar with an excellent selection of beer and cocktails, and The Village just looks like another even more boring iteration of Cornerstone.

Don’t get me wrong: bars like Cornerstone do have their place despite not really being my cup of tea, but Flash House was super underrated and had a ton of character, and it’s a shame to lose something like that. Guess they just couldn’t stay afloat during COVID. So it goes, I guess.

The current Cornerstone bars are slated to go away as Blue Ridge Realty who owns the land (including the former Carlton Flowers) is in early stage planning to put in a large mixed use building on that spot.

Unfortunately, Flash House closed well before COVID. The Village project started in 2019 when they already knew Cornerstone was going to have to close for the new development.

Yea Flash House was one of our favorite bars in all of Raleigh, It had a very chill vibe inside with old couches and comfortable chairs. If it was even remotely busy we always turned around and left because it was very tight and the bar was also small.

Here is a picture I took of the better half enjoying herself back in 2017, not the best picture of the place, but you get the idea.

Flash House always seemed to be a last stop in the “evening” for me so the memories are a bit hazy.
That said, it was underrated and I didn’t go enough (earlier in the evening) to appreciate it to it’s fullest. I do appreciate a chill not crowded place to hang that has some character.

The Snoopy property was purchase by Charles Long of Centerline Digital. Is this in toe with what you mentioned here?

Was mentioned over here as well.

New bar/restaurant next to the Exxon on St. Mary’s St. is coming along.

Thanks @OakCityDylan. Anyone know what this is gonna be?

I’m hoping it’ll be converted into a Shell station… :upside_down_face:
