It’s running like a champ actually! Funny what money can do.
New bar coming to Glenwood South by former Hurricanes player Bates Battaglia called “Teets”.
It will occupy the former Noir bar at 425 Glenwood Avenue. Bates has done a really good job with owning and managing Lucky B’s just next door, so I have high hopes for this place as well.

Teets? It sounds like a name SouthPark would use to parody Hooters. Oh yeah, SouthPark already did that with Raisins.
From the background section of their website :
“Sam “Teets” Battaglia was born in Chicago, Illinois. At age 16, Battaglia joined bosses Johnny Torrio and Al Capone in the Chicago Outfit at the start of the gang war against the mostly Irish North Side Gang, which was under boss Dean O’Banion. By the late 1930s, Battaglia had become a high-ranking member of the Outfit and a formidable loan shark. Debtors behind in their payments would be brought to Battaglia in the back room of the Casa Madrid restaurant, in Chicago, where they would be “persuaded” to pay up. Supposedly Battaglia’s nickname “TEETS” came from one such encounter. Another mobster was questioning Battaglia’s handling of a debtor and Battaglia yelled back at him, "Shaddup, or I’ll bust ya in da “TEETS!” Sam “Teets” Battaglia would eventually work his way up the ranks to head of the Chicago outfit. In doing so he provided his family with everything they needed to make it in America for the future. He had two sons, Richard the youngest (known affectionately as Mr. B), would go on to become a professional football player being inducted into the Semi Pro Football Hall of fame and have a family of his own. Mr. B had 3 boys Sam, Bates, and Anthony who took the reins from there. Like Teets for his son Rich, and consequently Rich for his 3 sons, the eldest, Sam, paved the way for Bates and Anthony. Mr. B always spoke highly of how the family transitioned from where they started and where they have ended up due to “Teets” paving the way for his family.”
Yep. I read that. It still sounds funny.
Terrible name, IMO. Maybe I’m getting old, but that story is lame.
Hope the place is cool, but not a fan of that branding at all.
Another bar concept coming to the former Feel Goodz store at 612 Glenwood Avenue. Looks like they will be adding a second level and rooftop section. This section of Glenwood South with the addition of “The Village” and RBGs outdoor extension has really cranked up the foot traffic.
‘Teets’ sounds like the name of a strip club.
That’s actually a neat story (in my humble opinion), having watched Boardwalk Empire, etc. and knowing about a few of those historical personalities.
I guess if they wanted to update it to be more 21st century, they could call it Teefs. Anyways, it still sounds like a strip club with an unimaginative owner, and I’m going to laugh every time I pass by. (And it’s not that much worse that [the absolutely wonderful] Lulu’s Bangbang on Page Rd, which I’m not going to type what we call that…) That being said, the more the merrier. Always happy for a new business downtown.
Really glad to see something coming in here! Looks pretty nice.
I think that Teet needs to be in the names of their mixed drinks.
Cosmoteetlitan
Teet Mule
Teet and coke
My first thought is always “…oh great, yet another bar on Glenwood south yawn ” - but then I think; once Glenwood is a little more “grown up” and there’s more and more residential and more diversity on this stretch, plenty of these larger renovated bar spaces can probably easily be converted to restaurant and multi-use retail spaces.
It’s more likely that bars like “Teets” will be raised and a larger building will be built. If the city stays on its growth trajectory, most of these one story buildings on Glenwood will be gone in the next 10 years. We are already seeing this happening with the rezoning of the west side of Glenwood between Johnson and Peace. It’s just a matter of time before someone starts assembling more contiguous tracts of one story buildings, and the LuckyBs/Armadillo Grill/Teets tracts are getting ripe for the picking. Even the Trimark Digital property could be assembled along with those others.
Dan Lovenheim’s business is bars, and since he’s the one assembling the contiguous tracts on the north end of Glenwood South (targeting one-story buildings), he will try to to keep his bar business going for as long as he can. Same with Bates for the Lucky B’s / Teets.
Kinda like farmers. They retire with what they get when they sell their land.
More bars like Draught in 1Glenwood are fine with me.
Makes me think of a certain scene in “Meet the Parents” with Ben Stiller, having to do with milking cats.
I agree, but I was specifically referring to the former FeelGoodz remodel with an added 2nd story/rooftop patio!
Johnson St. Yacht Club is adding a rooftop terrace to their bar. I’ve also herd they will be adding a playground style slide down to the first level.
I was worried Yacht Club was going. So excited.
Will there be a layer of cheese on the roof to blend into the rest of Gelwood South?
