Live Nation just purchased The Ritz. They have been managing it since 2014.

There was a rumor live Nation was going to open a new venue at The Exchange, but I haven’t heard anything about that in a while.

It’s a notoriously hated venue… I wonder if they plan to sell it/the land in a few years when that area starts building up and densifying (and the land will inevitably be worth millions more than it is now), and by that time have a shiny new venue ready to go up the road…

Here’s an article from the NYT regarding medium-sized concert halls. The article discusses the Mission Ballroom in Denver and mentions that its operator AEG is “using it as a blueprint for venues in Atlanta, Boston, Nashville and the Raleigh-Durham area in North Carolina.”

It is an interesting article, and pretty cool that we get a mention, but would have been nice if it had just been “Raleigh”. I believe the venue it is referencing is the one going in at Downtown South.

Well, as said in the MLB thread, our whole metro area being front of mind nationally versus just Raleigh can be helpful in being perceived at our true size—much like DFW, the Bay, and the Twin Cities.

Mission Ballroom is a wonderful room…I would enjoy living in a world where a pre-show outing is possible in a mixed use area adjacent to the show. Fingers and toes crossed for this to come out of the ground soonish and engage the acts currently booking the Ritz :face_vomiting: in a future that I’m still dancing in the crowd.

I think the ASR is in for another review for May 3.

It looks like the Downtown South Entertainment venue is going to get ASR approval.

The ASR has passed. The final paperwork is still in progress.

Raleigh does not have a music scene. It has a couple large festivals and a few places for touring acts. No scene.

I wish the Blue Ridge Rock Fest could say the same thing - what a fucking shit show that was.

Bruv, Go Bills but nearly half the Hopscotch lineup this year was made up of local bands lmao. We have a huge local music scene here. Just because you don’t go out to shows doesn’t mean they’re not happening… literally every single night of the week lmaooo

Maybe I’m wrong and old. So, sue me.

Bills suck, they lost to Zach Wilson.

NOOOOO @Phil I THOUGHT WE WERE BILLS BROS FOR LIFE!!! :sob:

Jake, my man, DON’T WORRY! I’m definitely still a Bills fan. But they lost to Zach Wilson and Allen looked like pure garbage. I’m actually flying up for the next game against Jets in November. Hope we have our shit together by then.

Kings has been sold, per the Triangle Business Journal.

The pair sold the Kings business to Josh Novicki, Herbie Abernethy, and Alan Novicki. The sale price was not disclosed.

Alan Novicki spent several years as a manager at The Lincoln Theatre in Downtown Raleigh. His brother, Josh Novicki, owns three food and beverage concepts alongside Abernethy – Hot For Pizza and Cobra Cabana in Richmond and The Sandspur in Carolina Beach.
