The inside of the Visitor Center:
So am I supposed to stand around all day on August 2nd and wait?
Yes. Post pictures too please.
I didn’t notice the walking path was an acorn until I saw the T-shirt! Lol
Wow, those are super sized sidewalks! I wonder when the fences comes down.
August 3?
. . . .
After the meetup tomorrow, we’re all going to rush the fence and topple it. With our sheer numbers they won’t be able to stop us!
There’s a meet up tomorrow?
@dtraleigh
I thought that Leo mentioned it recently, on one of these post?
Not officially. More details to come soon.
Does anyone know if they’ll be serving beer at the cafe? Will drinking be allowed at the park?
It’s a public square so while I don’t know, I’d be surprised if beer is allowed unless it’s during an event.
One question I need to follow up on are the hours of operation of the square. I remember a public meeting when I brought up the lights and how the square should be lit for use at night. Not real bright like a sports stadium but bright enough for people to walk through and still use it at night, compliment the restaurants nearby.
The look I got was, “The square closes at dusk” I pushed a little saying the square had to support 24/7 activity as people walk through it at night. Consider the early sunset in the winter, folks are walking home, to the bus, or to restaurants. There’s still so much going on that it needs to be a 24/7 square.
I wish the city would just take Nash and Moore from the state.
OMG, how ignorant of the city officials to not understand how the city actually works.
People will traverse that park during the night and its use will only increase as the city center grows. To not light it properly both ignores the reality of how a city works, but potentially puts peoples’ safety at risk.
I recently read an interesting article in City Lab on the subject of how parks in the US are seldom used at night, unlike some other parts of the world.
The splash-pad is supposed to be lit different colors at dusk so take that for what it’s worth.
Cool so just make sure to walk directly through the splash pad at night.
It’s not the fountain we wanted but maybe the one we deserve.
