NC Education Campus

Snapped a couple of pictures of the new North Carolina Education Campus. Unfortunately couldn’t really get closer as the sidewalk is closed off there, but it looks like they’re making some progress in going vertical with the building closest to capital. I’m assuming this to be a multi-building complex given there are two cranes. Has anyone been able to find renderings for this project? Surely there’s one somewhere considering it’s taxpayer funded…

Welcome! Probably was a good idea to start a new thread for this development but…

…boy do I have no news for you :upside_down_face:

So strange.. I don’t understand why this is being treated like a black budget project by the state.

It should fall subject to public record disclosure laws but someone is going to have to sue the right wing mafia to get them released…because they clearly feel public disclosure laws do not apply to them…

Tearing down the Bath building just to resurrect it

I’m somewhat optimistic given it looks like the design firm LS3P has done some nice work in the Civic and educational building space. They’re also behind the new NCDHHS building

Thanks for the pics! I just can’t see by the last picture posted, where a third crane would go.

These live stream screenshots obviously don’t compare to @OakCityDrone’s stuff, but in case anyone else is interested in seeing how the site is changing from the exact same angle side by side.

And here is one from 5 weeks ago:

It’s just one building, on bigger building they sometimes need two cranes to cover the entire footprint. Also, welcome!

Found out some info on this project today. Sounds like only one twelve story building and other mid rise buildings.

Honestly 12 is more than I expected lol

My understanding is that it’s a 6 and 8 combination, with an add’l below grade parking level.

Isn’t 12 mid-rise? So the “other mid-rise” buildings would be mid rise in comparison to 12?

I mean that’d at least make more sense of the scale of the two cranes - they’re both taller than the SECU building which is 11-stories (I believe).

2 underground parking levels, 8 office floors, 1 penthouse level. Just 1 big building in the shape of a T, south wing is 6 floors. Would be easier just to send this rendering. Too bad.

Also, curtain wall installer also told me there would be a 3rd crane.

Yes, we saw them put the base in during site prep. It just hasn’t been installed yet. Maybe for a later phase. Now everyone treats it like a phantom.
