Yes Governors mansion is nice but not an office building. I was talking state office buildings though the NC DHSS building is nice too.

Holy Crap! I can see why they hid the renderings. I can see folks from around the state complaining about the waist of taxpayer money. I like it though. I would like to see the other sides.

I think it would look a bit better without that white bordered atrium. I was told it would look like a cross between the new NC DHHS building on Blue Ridge Rd and the NC DNR building across the street, so this sort of tracks with that.

I dig it. If only that HUGE rooftop open-air space was a big ass commercial space (restaurant/bar) - but since this is a State building… it should at least be open to the public, no?
As for the green space in the front… looks pretty fking drab. Less “park” and more “parking lot but grass” … hopefully they activate it SOMEHOW… would be nice to get the Science museum involved to do some street fairs - like BugFest - in that grass.

There’s no restaurant or commercial space in the building, and likely will be badge access except for guests who have to sign in for public meetings. But, thinking about how terrible the empty parking lot was behind the old admin building, at least this is SOME form of green space across from the museum.

I like it. Based on the rendering and orientation of the building I’m a bit excited that it leaves open the view of the ‘world’. I’ve always liked this in downtown Raleigh and felt it was a bit hidden from site.
