Ol Randy Woodson’s getting a building named after him.

Well deserved. He has been nothing short transformational for NC State.

The contract for a Construction Manager at Risk for the massive $860m Cates West redevelopment is up for bid until February 21st, and it contains some more information I haven’t seen in terms of scale and phasing.

Terrific. That whole area has the tower-in-the-park issue where it has a lot of green space, but it’s weirdly useless and just creates long walks to get anywhere. The new quad-based plan should be much better.

Love that. Would love it even more if they used part of Lee Field to stage pre-game events for Doak Field. So much space there that could be used for food trucks, beer tents, and restrooms before and during games. I’m still waiting in the restroom line from the Raleigh Regional that took place in May.

I am confused here. I thought that the softball field was moving to this location? Didn’t we hear that here a few weeks ago?
On a side note, nothing tells me that I am old like knowing that the dining hall that I worked at the very first semester that it was opened is now slated for demolition because it’s old and obsolete. LOL

They scrapped the plans to move the softball field, which is why I hope they finally start to use Lee Field for something to enhance the fan experience at Doak Field for baseball games.

When NCSU renovated the softball stadium locker rooms in advance of the 2025 season, I think the writing was on the wall that their plans to relocate that stadium had changed. Apparently this was confirmed in an article written by Pack Insider last week after NC State contacted them.

Saw this posted on LinkedIn today, but it sounds like NCSU is moving forward with a new Poole College of Management facilities project that will be built by a JV between Barnhill Contracting and Holt Brothers Construction.

Was wondering if this may be the new PCoM building referenced in the Capital Projects list.
