Take a video of the ceremony
I swung through this morning. I saw a flyer implying that the booths would open at 8am but I stuck around until 9:45 and was able to get a golden shovel, bag and cookie
.
Have it came on the news yeyy
The city just posted these, I’m heading down there now to check it out myself.

I think John was taking floor-to-floor into account – residential is typically significantly shorter than office, which could be enough to make it shorter than The Dillon.

Nope, this is the original concept design before scale backs.
Apparently the Dillon is 17 stories?
btw, surprised my pic is still what’s being used for that building on Wikipedia ![]()
Ah yes, you are so right! Wasn’t even considering that Dillon is office- thanks for making this even worse! ![]()

As long as it starts construction. 23 stories is better than nothing happening which is a lot of projects right now.
I wish I shared your enthusiasm lmao (seriously though, I really wish I could be excited but just knowing that this is a shadow of what it was initially touted to be is never gonna not be disappointing every time I look at it)
That’s exactly what I was doing. If we presume that there actually is a 13th floor and we presume 10’ slab to slab for the residential & parking floors, and give them 25’ for that first floor for the buses bay, plus 15’-20’ for the roof/penthouse/crown, that would give us 220’+25’+20’ for a total of about 265’. Isn’t Dillon ~250? If so, there’s not going to much of a perceived difference among the other buildings in the area. This doesn’t even take into account that 400H and 301Hillsborough sit on a bit higher ground to begin with.
I propose they add a 30’ crown on top of it, anything to make it look taller than the Dillon.

We are going to see a huge tower crane
is there an alleged ‘third way’ for raleigh? its somewhat different from northeast cities, many here like it not being like a northeasten city…12 to 20 story expansion as a paradigm? could 30 plus just become an affront of sorts with more eblanced vertical growth?
Will it have two cranes
Honestly, I’m stoked. The Dillon is my favorite new development of the last 10 years from a streetscape perspective, and RUSBUS across the street saving the old brick facade is going to be a huge boon for this area. Now if we can get that infill project behind The Pit that was proposed a few years ago, and build something on the Firestone lot along with the Nash hotel, we’ll have a big walkable district
I believe Skyhouse is 23 stories as well. To your point, it will probably be a very similar height (Skyhouse is listed at 264’)
Well, if RUSbus ends up being 264ish from the residential portion, I have to imagine the bus depot on ground level will need a much higher clearance, so might actually add some height there. I think it will still end up being slightly taller than the Dillon. Hey, height variation is height variation.
