Raleigh Union Station and RUSbus Facility / Union West

380 is still close enough to 400 and there are no buildings between 295 and 400 so visually it will basically look that height. Not that that makes me feel enthusiastic about the changes. My fear is that it will be revised again and downwards… again. Because Raleigh can’t have nice things.

I really hope this is the last edit/update to the design.

Glory be! Raleigh Union Station finally has its escalator installed and operating that will take you from the base of the platform tunnel topside for boarding. First use was on Friday, January 20.

That’s a big city train design especially with the details of the green arrow. It the little details that count.

And, there’s a red ‘Down’ arrow light, too. So, without confirmation, it appears to suggest a reversibility function depending on what’s being facilitated with pedestrian traffic flow.

Looks like some actual excavation and grading is starting to take place.

Woah sad fact the property that the Citrix building currently exists was owned by TTA (GoTriangle) and they sold it off. Damn we could have resolved a lot of issues with the current station if we had that property to build a proper straight station with straight platforms and even more space for more platforms.

Geez talk about poor decisions.

Yeah that’s I didn’t know sad…

Maybe can buy it back after Citrix abandoned it.

Probably no longer economically feasible but if somehow the city could get both the Citrix site and the block north of Morgan Street you can potentially have 1,000 foot platforms. However, there’s the 8 story 501 Hillsborough apartments going up on that property.

Maybe something for future generations to consider however.

I do recall that when the Dillon Supply warehouse was renovated and expanded to house Citrix, it was done in a way that the westernmost section of the building could be lopped off if needed for the sake of track or platform expansion. Evidently no critical infrastructure (structural, systems, etc) were located west of the line. The parking deck was built a bit narrower than the building to accommodate this as well.

So this might not be as hard as you would think.

That would be kinda cool to slice off that part of the building and have a giant glass curtain wall facing the platform.

Sliiiiiiiiiightly updated street-level rendering on Hoffman’s website.

It’s really going to be a great building. Oaks and Spokes is working to try to get some sort of bike hub / proper bike storage facility in on the ground level as well. Still bummed that we lost the hotel though.

At various sheets of the floor plans, this area is called out as bike storage. And looks like a roll up door for the ‘flex space’ which is also referred to ‘bike storage’ elsewhere

Thank you so very much!

What does the “B” stand for? And please don’t say “bikes” as I am scared to see:
B=bus, C=car, D=door, :rofl: :crazy_face:

If this is what we actually get, I’ll be happy. Not as nice as those initial renderings, but it’s still pretty solid.

The rooftop spaces on this one will probably be the best of downtown.

  • The 6th floor amenity deck with pool, pickleball, fire pits, grilling areas (around 28,000 sf including the 5 private terraces there as well). Facing west is nice for afternoon light/evening sunsets.

  • There’s also a 3,800 sf terrace at the 13th floor between the two towers that will have both east & west views.

  • And the North tower has two skydecks (2,500 sf & 2,000 sf) at the north and south ends of the amenity space at the 31st floor.

6th Floor Plan (Colors added by me)

People coming in on the train are gonna have a hella good view of this. Pretty solid ‘Welcome to Raleigh’ if you ask me IMO
