Show Off Things From Other Cities

Chelsea Market also goes without saying, but didn’t have any pics. That’s where I stock up on Cascina Belvedere carnaroli extra and violone nana rice from Bianzé to make risotto.

A couple of cool buildings (architecturally) here in Boston .

I think these buildings are from the same developers behind 301 Hillsborough??

The one on the right is the Institute of Contemporary Art by Diller Scofidio + Renfro, one of the world’s “starchitects.”

Charlottes light rail is really impressive, it would be almost impossible for Raleigh to top this with BRT, but it’s worth a shot to get close

I’m 98% sure this is a parking deck. :raised_hands:t3:

This is terrific. This is what the Smoky Hollow phase 1 deck should look like. Oh well…
That said, it’s not too late for Kane to put some sort of art on it. A video wall would be awesome on that deck as well. I can imagine it having a variety of content depending on the time of day, finishing with something soothing and relaxing as the night winds down.

Video wall? Go big, or go home!

Not to derail this topic further (maybe we should move this to “Show Off Things From Other Cities”) but wanted to share some Richmond skyline shots. The city has great bones, a result of it being one of the largest cities in the South for much of the 19th and 20th centuries. Besides historical architecture, density, and a better overall restaurant scene, there isn’t really anything Raleigh should want to replicate from the RVA. The city is a poster child for dysfunction, with horrendous municipal services and public schools. As much as we may complain about Raleigh’s governance, it could be much worse.

See, now that’s a beautiful Capitol building! And the bar inside is pretty impressive, too

If there were 260 beers on tap at our capital more things may get done.

Raleigh Beer Garden (with apparently 402 taps now, supposedly the world record) is only a short stumble away.

402 now? Wow! It already held the World Record when it was like 365.

For you fountain lovers, here is the headquarters of ConAgra foods and downtown Omaha Nebraska.

Love the fountain. Looks pretty desolate around it save a beautiful freeway interchange! :slightly_smiling_face: Isn’t this HQ an office park in downtown?
I would take that in front of Memorial Aud instead of my obelisk.
