Have you ever been to Mt Bohemia for skiing? I’m thinking about making a trip this season and staying in the yurt village.
There isn’t much vertical but I herd the lake affect snow is amazing.
I have but not since I was very very young so I’m not much help.
In Charleston SC for the weekend. Nice for a sense of normalcy. Other than masks no restrictions. Restaurants full, hotels look full. No issues.
I’m wary of going to Charleston anytime soon, as much as I love that city. SC is 7th per capita for covid cases, while NC is 26th. Maybe their restaurants shouldn’t be at capacity. I guess I’ll have to settle for Wilmington and hope next year is better. Hope you have a good visit! #jealous
Unless you are unhealthy with a covid comorbidity, going to Charleston is totally safe. Lots of great restaurants.
Just a reminder of the recent COVID “policy” change for the forum.
I’m in Asheville this weekend and other than getting takeout instead of dine-in, it’s been pretty normal. Doesn’t feel like the end of the world, especially at the breweries with the large patios. Only problem is that the kids can’t wander around and have to stay at the table
That sounds like a good thing for the other customers
We were in Asheville about a month ago, and it seemed mostly normal too. We did dine in at Curate, had to sit outside at New Belgium, but Sierra Nevada with all their indoor and outdoor space being closed was a bummer. Just getting to go somewhere tho was so refreshing. Enjoy your weekend!
Glad that you had a great time in Asheville, I have been hearing that is was for the most part “normal”, some friends of mine went last weekend and they had fun, ( wearing mask ) and all. but they were being careful too. So I may go up there in October for the weekend. Just to get out of Raleigh and head to Asheville will be a vacation for me. I have not seen any of my friends or family members since COVID. It sucks bad, really bummed out. Video chat really sucks.
I was there on Saturday and noticed quite a few empty store fronts. Could be business as usual, not sure what it was like pre-covid. But yes - everything that was open was very busy.
New out of Durham. Maybe Raleigh should try something similar to give downtown a jolt before the weather gets too cold?
You are exactly right.
Greensboro has been doing this for a month or more with great success
Wouldn’t it be nice to have a nice long pedestrian street downtown? …oh wait.
I prefer this to be honest. I think we’re good.
Yeah, but just one place. No cohesiveness. Even that one is sort of flimsy
Small wind blew everything down the other night.
But there is no parking!
