Show Off Things From Other Cities

Could very easily see this as part of the DTS campus

For what it’s worth, Raleigh has a cool looking themed indoor mini-golf course called Par-Tee Shack (I haven’t been yet but the pictures I’ve seen look awesome)

Friends with kiddos LOVE the PAR-Tee shack, FWIW…

A tenant like the Puttery would be great for the revitalization of Fayetteville Street.

Agreed, Fayetteville St really needs a Boxcar-esque form of entertainment to really anchor the district and drive foot traffic during all hours. Someone mentioned a bowling place a couple months ago… love that idea as well. Sadly, I don’t think anything dramatic is going to happen on that street if it continues to just be bars and restaurants.

Anyone been to a Pins Mechanical? I went to the suburban one in Columbus, OH compared to the downtown one (not my plan) but if they could find a large warehouse for rent, this would be pretty cool. Perhaps the Kimbrells space could be a killer spot for something like that.

I agree and Fayetteville Street needs to be a pedestrian only street. It would attract more retailers and make it easier to have events.

I wish someone would take the old kimbrells space and put an arcade/puttputt/bar area in the top section, maybe add a balcony area. Then in the basement a bowling alley and another bar/restaurant space. That building is deceptively large.

Sounds similar to Tiger Woods’ PopStroke: https://popstroke.com/

There’s a location near my folks in Florida. Maybe Raleigh can snag one of these?

Hey I’ve been there!
My friend was actually just in Roanoke this weekend too. Maybe you saw each other and hung out…

I’m sure that was sarcasm lol, but in case anyone is wondering, Duke Energy is consolidating operations from several buildings into the new one (still under construction). This includes vacating the 786 foot tall Duke Energy Center across the street.

Is the new building going to be so much bigger that they can abandon on the one across the street? Do you know the motivation for that, like they own one but not the other?

Are they asking everyone who works in Raleigh to move to Charlotte? I wonder what will happen to the building downtown

Unless they go through the red tape of the legacy Duke Power territory (Charlotte) and the ex-CP&L/Progress territory (Raleigh) together that is a no-go.

No it just affects Charlotte. Can’t remember for sure but I think they’re consolidating things from DEC, the data center across from the Panthers stadium, and another office building in uptown into the new building.

It’s going to be interesting watching how Raleigh and Charlotte grow this decade because there are supposedly a few F500s eyeing both cities, as well as a ton of proposed high rises (I have heard that Charlotte has 45 proposed towers not including what is currently under construction there, and we all know what has been proposed here in Raleigh). Durham will be fun to watch, and keep an eye on Wilmington because there is a $700M proposal on the west side of the Cape Fear which could result in a new tallest for the Port City.

And yet somehow ratepayers have to pay for a brand new building versus leasing available space……the smoke & mirrors by dook energy continues.

Elon Musk….please give us a home power capture & storage so we can bankrupt that f’ing dinosaur pseudo “publicly managed” monopoly.

I vomit a bit every time I hear a dook commerical with the speed speaking at the end “paid for by dook energy shareholders…”. Give me a f’ing break….who provides the funds for the shareholders?..…ratepayers who are trapped in a dinosaur monopoly business model!!!

We should get a downtown Halloween costume parade going like many other cities. The most famous one of the West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval. An impromptu two mile loop between Glenwood South and Faye Street. You know something that isn’t tied to the universities.

And somewhere that can actually handle it and wants the people, unlike Chapel Hill.
