Tucker entrance will be the vehicle access to the parking garage. With the pedestrian walkway between the apartment and office buildings, closing this short section of W Johnson opens up a nice area for events without impacting Publix customers.
What happens to those who want to access the parking garage from Johnson when itās closed? Iām confused how this would work.
Thereās an entrance from West St for the residents as well as Johnson.
There is an entrance to the Publix garage near the corner of W Johnson near the intersection with a Harrington Street that would need to remain open, but the rest of street could be closed. See attached.
For phase 1? I know that thereās an entrance on Harrington, but I donāt recall seeing it on West.
That makes more sense. Thanks Jim.
I donāt think thatās right. My understanding is the entrance for the 1st floor parking (Publix) is on Harrington and I believe another from Peace. The Johnson and West entrances are for the residential deck. Publix is only the 1st floor level with Harrington.
(please correct me if Iām wrong)
You may be right Dylan about which entrance is for residents versus Publix customers. Either way that vehicle entrance off W Johnson would need to be kept open in case of an event.
Iāve now learned that my information source was incorrect about the section of W Johnson between West and Harrington streets being a private street. Itās just the one-way entrance into the parking deck across from Tucker Street that is not a City Street. Sorry about that.
Oh, that makes more sense. Iāve always presumed that the Tucker Street extension would be private.
N&O is reporting the north bound exit from Peace St. onto Capital Blvd will open today.
Also says the new bridge has shifted and allowed traffic on the new section going north bound as well.
The south bound bridge section will be shifted this evening and completed by 6am Saturday.
This is great news considering Person and Glenwood were the only two ways north leaving downtown from Peace st.

They mention the ramp closure took 50% more time than it was supposed to, which is insane. I couldnāt imagine planning that badly at my job and not being fired.
They also mention the entire project was supposed to be done this fall. Unless thereās a miracle in the next two weeks, I donāt see that happening. Does anyone know of a revised timeline? Like the part where thereās artwork and lights and a grassy median?
way highway project work, that means fall 2020.
Hopefully they need to pay liquidated damages for failing to complete it on time.
I know you probably arenāt being serious but I would think itās going to be done pretty soon. It looks really close to complete. A few weeks perhaps?
Yep mostly joking but I Have seen projects that look complete for 6 months or more before they are opened. Just some little things that have to be corrected or something before Dot will accept it.
They also said the delays were due to weather which I call BS on.
