Smoky Hollow Phases 1, 2, and 3

Living wall even better, given I’ll have to look at it much more than the average guest of the Hibernian rooftop.

That plaza between the residential and office, I’m curious, does it get sunlight ever? It looks really dark between those buildings.

It will get midday Sun, but will likely be shaded for much of the day. In the Summer, I’ll appreciate that.

The shadows of Mordor will eventually dim out all of oakwood too.

In that picture, east is on the right and west is on the left so the office building :office: will block the morning sun and the apartments will block the afternoon sun. I would guess they will get a few hours of mid day sun in the plaza in between. But the “street” that will run on the south side (foreground in the picture) is private and should get more sun depending on the time of year.

Living downtown I can say that 3/4 of the year we’re searching for shade as we walk around.

Every time that I see photos of uptown Charlotte, I wonder where all the trees are. I hope that doesn’t happen to Raleigh as it grows. Buildings+Trees+Sidewalks is where it’s at.

Great point. I hope that Raleigh ends up having more of a D.C. atmosphere. One of my favorite walkable cities.

This place is going to need its own zip code when it’s all said and done lol

We should make an effort to save fully grown street trees and other existing trees on building sites. Decades of growth gone. We should offer incentives to developers for this effort. #cityofoaks

North section of The Line is getting wood!

…and they’re doing something between the phase 2 deck and the West deck with gray pipe. :man_shrugging:t3: Maybe irrigation for a living wall??
