Smoky Hollow Phases 1, 2, and 3

Meh, nothing in this list excites me in the least bit. And where is the damn retail? With all the spaces available, this could’ve actually been a shopping destination.

The OG Crunkleton is pretty dope…
Still no one making bets on retail in these new developments.
Need to hit the tipping point on residents, it seems. Where is that ?

Just curious. What kind of retail do you envision here?

I assume they drive it from the kitchen to your table, but I could be wrong. :red_car::sandwich:

Pretty excited about the Crunkleton, and the rest of this sounds like places I’d go to. Agreed that some retail is needed but I guess it’s a big risk at the moment.

Literally anything that isn’t just food/drink lmao

They need to gin up foot traffic before retailers are going to have confidence there. Plus I’m not sure if you read the news but retail is in the can right now

The Village copped Barnes & Noble. A day - evening destination. Big loss for The Hollow.

I am fairly certain there was chain retail interest but the desire was to keep it local/regional.

Madre should excite.

Local chains are good. NC has given birth to goodly number. Solid local support makes a big deal. The population distrubution of the stateis a real advatage to growing lots of enterprisizes.

Still hoping for a dedicated breakfast spot here. Gimme a place that serves me waffles (bonus if they’re cinnamon roll waffles), pancakes, French toast, eggs, and bacon on the daily please. Sunday brunch places doesn’t always cut it for my love for breakfast food.

Small luxury urban mall would be nice. I would love to buy a nice Rimowa aluminum suitcase in-person but they only have retail locations in high end retail developments and we have none here.

More Milan’s Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II than Charlotte’s South Park Mall.

Really think Raleigh is missing something like this. Not sure any of our upcoming developments fit the bill though. Hopefully something comes along soon. Maybe Seaboard station could evolve into something like this? We’re running out of big blocks downtown that could be (realistically) completely revamped.

Fedex Office & Print Store (specific, but I use them to print stuff and would prefer not to have to drive), gift stores, I would say gym, but the places are small for a gym it seems. I would throw in a hair place maybe as there are a lot of apartments around. There are a couple of hair places around, but I don’t know what their capacity currently is.

I don’t mind restaurants, but there needs to be some kind of a mix.

I think that Midtown East is more likely to land upscale retail.

Don’t think I can share it, saw it on an insta story. But I guess our local CBS shared announcements of future stores coming here. They listed everything we heard from Raleighmag, but they also mentioned that there would be a New York style pizza place joining too, they didn’t give a name tho. Pretty pumped about that.

Yep - the RalMag story photos showed the ‘NY pizza concept’ adjacent to JLights at 421 N Harrington

I’m late but I’m tired of NY Pizza places. I would’ve loved an authentic Italian restaurant with calzones and cannolis.

SmoHo would’ve been a perfect spot for a Bonci…but, likely Raleigh ain’t ready

Should have some nice patio seating at least.

There’s an authentic Italian place in city market that is really good and usually busy and one or two? in Lafayette Village that seem to be popular, so I don’t think that’s the case.
